New Fan for buffalo terastation ts-1.0tgl/r5

Hi,
i'd like to replace the build-in fan in my buffalo terastation ts-1.0tgl/r5 for a more silent one.
its a 80*80*25mm fan with a three-pin connector. from what i heard, it has to be adjustable.
can i just buy a silent fan with a three-pin connector or do i have to make sure that it has certain properties?

thanks in advance,
alex

Just the fan, with 3 wires, as long as it has the 3 wires then you can adjust the speed... most fans do come with this 3 wires setup now adays

Jetta compressor makes a noise as if the fan belt is finished but when I lubricate it it goes silent then later makes that whistling sound. What could be the problem? and It's a year now.

If you are talking about the fan it's self it could be one of three things.
Fan belt may be worn and needs replacing or if its new the belt may need to be tensioned again as new belts do stretch a bit. But while you are there check the rubber of the belt for cracking or perished area
Could be a noisy bearing that needs cleaning or replacing which will make a whistle type sound.
Last is that the actual fan may be out of shape or the fan housing which could have a build up of dirt dust that could give off a odd sound.
Hope this is of some help

No need to enter Username and password in vista everytime you boot the computer

you can blame the security setting in windows vista -these decide the request /response authentication protocol used for the network login .The default setting for win vista NTLMv2 (NT lan manager version 2)
but the terastation still uses an earlier version of it .
The setting can be changed as follows :click tge start button ,enter "secpol.msc " in the search field and double click the progrma found .confirm the start of the console with "continue' .Finally ,double- click and open "security settings".then expand the "local policies" "security option" folder .In the following list select "Network security :lan manager authentication level".A dialog box open on double clicking it .At this point, switch to the "local security setting" tabthe default set option "send NTLMv2 respone only " to "send LM & NTLM -use NTLMv2 session security.if negotiated " .save the changes with "ok" and teraStation will start working again

Buffalo 85 fan not blowing

sounds like the fan is not working, can you isolate the fan and run it by itself with out the burned, this will tell you if it's the fan motor or some sensor that's the trouble

Normally dust gets caught up in the fan you can try blowing it out to free the dust or the bearings are getting worn and the fan needs to be replaced.

Mac OSx 10.8 cannot search BUFFALO TS-8VH24TL/R6 24TB

Specs only indicate Windows. No iOS. Might be cause of the RAID configuration / software.

Though it does support HTTP and FTP protocols.

How to install antivirus in Buffalo Tsx40tlr5 Terastation

You have antivirus installed on this NAS system? You will want to look up the product manual for that product and see if it allows antivirus programs to be installed. Some NAS stations come with built in anti virus. You could even contact their support to get a list of "SUPPORTED" anti virus software. At which point, you will have to telnet or console into the data storage system and install the software. You could probably install the files through a CIFS connection but it would be best to contact Buffalo support as they can walk you through the proper steps.

Case coling fan is very loud

Hey there Ohio,

There are a few things that cause a normally silent fan to get noisy.

  • Dust building up - Unlikely, but check. Clean if necessary.
  • Some internal wiring brushing against the trailing edge of the fan blades - Likely only if the case was recently opened. Re-open and check, relocate the wiring if necessary.
  • The fan is getting ready to fail - Most likely. Replace the fan. If you have an unused computer, pull a fan out of that one to use. New fans are available for under $20.00 USD .

This replacement is very easy.
  1. Four screws out
  2. Unplug
  3. Remove old fan, put new one in.
  4. Plug in
  5. Four screws in
Don't wait until it fails, though. A cool computer is a happy computer.

Hope this helps,
Mike
