Question about Ryobi Garden

Open Question

Ryobi 705R Strimmer

I'm trying to get the bushing housing assembly apart. It has some twine caught in it and is not spinning free enough. I've got it apart to the retainer spring grip but can't seem to get that apart. Any suggestions? Is it a case of brute force?

The Bushing Housing assembly is at the other end of the strimmer, not the engine. It is where the line fixes in. After taking the line out I'm trying to strip down the shaft and housing. I have the housing off the machine but it appears to be one assembly. However having looked up spare part suppliers who have exploded diagrams the assembly will apparently come apart. I just can't quite work out how?

SOURCE: Fuel line routing for RYOBI Models 705r and 725r

Typical fuel line routing is:

One line (the one with the fuel filter in the end of it) comes out of the fuel tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the carburator. The second line comes out of the tank and goes to the bottom fitting on the primer bulb. The third section of line goes from the top fitting on primer bulb to top fitting on the carburator. Hope this helped and best wishes.

SOURCE: Ryobi PBC 3046YE strimmer starts but cuts out when speed control

A lack of acceleration in these units is most likely a fuel delivery related issue. It may possibly be time for a diaghram kit or carb rebuild kit to be installed in your carburetor. Ethanol in the gas deteriorates the parts that accomplish the acceleration procedure and may need to be replaced as they don't function anymore.
Many other things can affect these little machines as well such as clogged air filters, clogged crank case vent, clogged mufflers/exhaust ports./ spark arrestor screens...but more often than not, your problem is a carburetor issue.

It could be fuel, carburetor, mixture OR the muffler may be clogged. If the muffler is clogged, the unit won't run at high throttle.

Steps: Remove the back housing to access the muffler. You may want to remove the gas tank to avoid a spill. Remove the muffler (2 large screws). Remove the muffler door (3 small screws). The screen should be cleaned using a pin (poke out any hardened material). Most important: The muffler door is 2 parts. Pry it apart and scrape off the burnt carbon that is clogging the exhaust path. Re-assemble and start.

My Ryobi 705r strimmer won't run !

The carburetor needs to be disassembled and cleaned with carb. cleaner. Or, it needs a new carburetor kit. If you need tips on how to do this, just let me know.

The pull rope broke on my ryobi 705r/725r gas trimmer. I have all the screws off but it seems to be held on by the center shaft that spins. What do I do now?

I have the same issue of clutch removal on a Ryobi 725r. Actually the clutch finally died after many years of use.
Instead of using a screwdriver to hold the piston I recommend using a piece of clothesline rope. It will be easier on the internal components and won't scratch up the cylinder walls or piston. Just be sure to leave a small amount hanging out of the spark plug hole so you can pull it out afterward.
