Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Repairing Playstation 3

The console was knocked off the end table and fell onto the floor. There is minimal cosmetic damage to the front right corner (bent plastic). The game still works, however the eject button does not, leaving the game stuck inside (a rental to boot). We sent it to Sony for repair & they returned it without touching it stating "Extensive Damage". When we called they said they do not have the ability to repair PS3 at this time, but may sometime in the future. Is this right?!! A $700 system that can't be repaired? It's only a few months old, any suggestions?

Re: Repairing Playstation 3

Cruark Something funny in Sony's response but I wont get into game console red tape. Several options, I commend you for attempting to tell Sony the legal reason of what happen. Most would say it was a store packaging error while shelving there floors and you were unaware of it {wink}. Here is some options, You may want to attempt to buy a broken one on eBay and use the shell on yours and the pieces of the eject button also. {make 1 good one out of 2} Some people like to buy the differant colored cases and you can do that also which would replace your case meaning you have to open it up but since Sony doesnt want to help anyways what will it matter. You can also open it up and see what minor repairs you can do with just a visual. Either way, hope these Ideas help.

My ps2 slim is not spinning the game inside it fell by accident and now it not working but it turns off and on but doesn't spin the disk

You most likely knocked something loose that is interfering with the lens. Or the lens is permanently damaged. If this is the case, you can purchase a replacement lens and by following online video guides, you can replace your broken lens with minimal fuss.

Hi, unfortunately my Wii fell onto the carpet last

i think that the laser inside the disk drive has skipped

lets say the laser moves from a to b (a is the start)(b is the end)

the laser might of jumped to b but the console still thinks it is at a and it keeps trying to move it towards b but it cant go any further because the laser tracks stop

you could open the console up and test the drive or replace the disk drive

PS2 was dropped, now disc won't spin and can't be read.

I just looked at a friend's PS2. Same story, tripped over cord, unit fell to floor. Unit powers up and sys. config. screen comes on but the drive didn't seem to be spinning up. Opened the case and found that the shaft of the drive motor for the laser tray had popped out of it's centering retainer ( little black bushing/holder). With the top off the unit, looking at the unit from the front, on the right side in the rear corner you'll see the motor. The worm shaft (bronze colored rod) runs towards the front of the unit. Where it ends it should sit centered in a black plastic holder, if it's off to the side a little pressure will pop it back in. Put the cover back on, and power it up, you should hear the drive spinning up. If it does you should be set. Hope this helps.

Xbox 360 has Disk read error

if there is no physical damage to the outside of the console, take it back to where you purchased it for an exchange, it sounds like you may have knocked the laser out of place or even damaged the board.
