Ll i need to put password to my accese point (dlink) please tell me how ?

Setting up a wireless router with a Windows client can be complicated.
There are a number of measures and options that have to be understood, and it's all too easy to make a mistakes but D-Link provides an easy to walk through configuration system to help you set up your D-Link wireless router.

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the DSL modem.

Then plug the other end into the "WAN" port on the back of the D-Link wireless router.

Connect wired computers to any of the other Ethernet ports on the router using another Ethernet cable.
Access the D-Link Configuration Screen

Open your web interface and type "" into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
Use "Admin" as the username and leave the password blank when the login screen appears.
Click "OK." You should now see the D-Link configuration screen.
Set Up General Security

Change your administrative password by clicking on the "Tools" tab and choosing the "Admin" button.

Enter a new password under the "Administrator" heading.
Confirm it, and click "Apply."
Disable the wireless Local Area Network (LAN) if you don't need to use the wireless access and you want to make sure no one else is able to access your network.
Under the "Home" tab, choose "Wireless" and select the "Off" option.
Enable Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP)

Locate the "Home" tab in the D-Link Configuration screen, and click on the "Wireless" button.
Use the "Open System" button beside "Authentication."
Select the "Enabled" button next to "WEP," and set the encryption key to "128 bit."
Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII" and choose a 13-digit password for the "Key 1" field.
Write down the password in a secure location.
Click "Apply." Change the SSID

Change the SSID to make it more difficult for others to locate and use your network by clicking on the "Home" tab and locating the "Wireless" button.
Change the default SSID to one of your choosing, then click "Apply."
Disable SSID broadcasting. Under the "Advanced" tab, click on "Performance" and check off the "Disabled" box. Again, click "Apply."
Filter MAC Addresses

Click the "Advanced" tab in the D-Link "Configuration" screen and select the "Filters" button.
Choose the "MAC Filters" and click on "Only Allow Computers with MAC Address Listed Below to Connect to the Network."
Enter the name and MAC address of the computers allowed to access the network, beginning with the one you are currently configuring. Click "Apply."

Hi i have a d-link dwl-g700ap and i cant acces the wifi from my garmin-asus a50 nuvifone , i know its not the phone because i can connect on everyother network . please help

Go to your management software inside the access point. Default IP address is If you changed it, go to that address with a browser. Default login with "Admin" without a password. If you set up a different administrator id and password then login with those credentials.

Go to the "Advanced" tab. The setting on the MAC address settings are important here. Hopefully you know how to get the MAC address of the phone. I don' have the same phone so I can't tell you how to get it. Ensure that you have entered in the phone's MAC address and any other devices that you connect wirelessly to. If you have registered the MAC address under the second radio button or you have the first radio button clicked, you have a WEP or other password issue. Many public access point don't filter any MAC address and don't require passwords. When setting up at home, you do have to at least these up.

Hope this helps.

Cant access my D-link access point

Hi, If settings of username and password are still at default, they are "admin" and 'leave it blank' respectively. If these have been changed in the past, then you have no alternative but to do a hard reset (press reset button at the back or underneath) to restore everything to factory default. Of course this would remove all changes and settings that you have done including configuration. Hope this be of some help. Post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
