If this virus really deletes the files its really hard to recover it. But if the virus just hide your files. You can still recover it. Just unhide all hide files then look for your files if it is still there. If you can make a copy do it. You can also do this way. Type the filename you need on the search bar and use look also for hidden files option.

If you can make a copy do it. Then test it on a different computer with a good known updated antivirus installed. If your needed files will be deleted by that antivirus, if not then that solves your problem. Your other files to be follow.

Hope this helps you.

For the pop up virus deal with it, try to use Avira free antivirus.

Also what is youre operating system? If this doesn't help you we can device another solution

The virus always would cause some strange problem for a computer and even cause data loss sometimes. So, run your antivirus tool as soon as possible and clean the possible virus completely.
But, if this doesn't make a sense, or you are afraid to delete some needed data at the same time, you could try to restore your data back from this PC for free and ten format this computer to keep it clean.
Here is a PC data recovery freeware that could help retrieve all your lost data back from this PC:

After experiencing this trouble, I hope you could learn to do regular antivirus scan on your computer.

Visit cnet or softpedia and download any hard disk recovery tool "Recover my Files" is quite good. Install the software on a partition other than the one which your data files were, and then try to run the recovery program to recover those files which you should get, unless it has been overwritten........sodeep

It depends on how the file was "lost". If the virus overwrote the existing file it can't be retrieved. If the virus deleted a file then you can use any software designed to recover files (for example - Stellar Phoenix).

use asoftech photo recovery program to scan your usb and then recover your files.

This software scans all storage space on usb and then join pieces together to recover photos. So even virus affected your file table, and put virus to boot sector, the program can still be used to recover your photos.
