On boot up the bios is stating the CPU was changed. But it was not.

My asus p3b-f computer keeps stating that the CPU has been modified since it last booted up. But the CPU has not been changed. Could it be that the onboard battery is going bad?

Usually that is the first signal that the battery is drained and needs to be changed. Yes you are right, go ahead and change the onboard battery and set the time & date after that.........sodeep

Not sure what you are asking about. Asus site says the motherboard will take DDR2 533/667MHz SDRAM, 2x SO-DIMM socket expandable to 2GB
Which means DDR2 533mhz 1 gig per slot total 2gig
or DDR2 667mhz 1 gig per slot total 2 gig

Asus g73jw black screen on boot up

That sounds like the GPU is cooked. The CPU is heating up trying to drive the GPU that is not responding.

My mother board asus p5v800-mx was having a bios corrupted.. it only display starting bios recovery..

Try these options if you mainboard is not booting!!

1. Clear CMOS. (Remove the CMOS Battery)
2. Remove your memory cards and video card, try to clean their golden connectors with a rubber, then reseat them back.
3. Remove the CPU cooler out, add some thermal paste to the CPU surface, then reseat the cooler back and keep the cooler tightly installed.
4. Keep the necessary components(CPU, one memory) onboard for a test.

Finally, recommend you to replace a BIOS battery to have a test.

Hope it helps.

Asus P3B-F Motherboard

Download a manual from the ASUSTEK website, I have read many forums related to issue's with ram and from what I have learned with the ASUS boards is that dependind on the bios and the model, each slot, for some unknown reason can only recoqnize a maximum of 128MB per DIMM slot? My board has 4. For example, no matter what I install for Ram the motherboard will only read 512, some of the forums on ASUSTEK reccomend reflashing the bios with an updated one, but now, with the age of these computers i find it difficult to find a Bios upgrade. It is ridiculas, the Bios should come from the manufacturer ready to handle the maximum Ram of 1GB, which is my case with the ASUS P3B-F Pentium 3 with a 850MHZ processor.?????????

Will not boot into XP

If you have a SATA HDD, lok in the BIOS for something along the lines of "configure SATA as:" When you changed BIOS settings, this could have changed. Change it to something different and try again. Otherwise there is a chance that you fried your CPU, sorry m8

Problem with my bios

the first thing i would do is check// change the battery to see if it is any good because it looks like the battery may be bad causing the system to forget the time and things like that,,,, then the next time it boots into bios look at the time and date and location ect..ect section and make any changes to it that it may need , that is why they want you to make changes to the first 4 fields when it boots into bios is to select fail safe options if you have that option and see if it will boot . if not go to default settings ok please keep me posted on this i can help you aout a lot more if needed ok best regards mike
