Re: Ignitor Switch

Either a foreign object is blocking it, Or the gap for the spark may be set too little or too much, try adjusting the gap. Let us know :-)

Ignitor not working

This sounds like the switch for that specific burner is bad. You will need to order the switch for that particular burner. Sometimes it is the entire harness that will need to be replaced because all the switches come as a set. The front or top switch panel will have to be removed to replace the switches. Turn off the power before attempting any service.

I havef a KitchenAid Gas Range Model KGSS907... and one of the ignitors on one of the burners is not sparking. I tried to take the stove top off to check the wire to the ignitor but don't see how to...

Typically the burner come off by removing the burner caps and inside the burners are 2 screws that hold the burner base to the top..yes you could swap igniters on all burners they will be the same. If by swapping the igniters it still doesnt work the things that could be the problem are;

the spark module espically if the igniter that doesnt work on that burner suddendly work on a different burner

the spark switch on the gas valve for that burner..typically all burners spark when one it turned on but the only one that lights is one that has gas flow to turning on a different burner first and leave it set to light setting by turning on the one that doesnt light it will light if that spark switch is the problem

of course a cracked igniter

a broken wire from the spark module to that igniter taht doesnt work..its not that uncommon that the insulation will sometimes wear off a wire off so the electric that should be going from the spark module to the igniter is instead being grounded by that wire touching the metal on the frame uninsulated

Good luck,i hope i have been able to help you fix your range,

The igniters on my Five Star TPN535-BGSW Dual Fuel Kitchen Range don't stop after the burner has ignited. This is a long time intermittent problem that effects the most used burners but not the least used....

Most likely one of these two causes:

1. Corrosion or build up on one of the metal surfaces that provide a path to chassis ground from the ignitor through the burner and frame back to the chassis ground connection to the spark module.

2. An intermittent spark ignitor wire or corroded connection to the ignitors.

There is a 3rd possibility if the range has been worked on ...

Turn on all the burners, if the sparking stops then the problem is that two or more of the ignitor wires have been swapped between burners.

How do I access a spark ignitor on a Viking gas

I am assuming your referring to the stove top burner ignitor. Well - I can only say on my Viking 48 inch - it was located at top RHS of the stove on the 'back wall'. I was advised by a 'tech' that it would be located at the back of my stove (ie he would have to pull out the built in unit and would cost me 500$). In fact I replaced the unit in 30 minutes ... I removed the two RHS burners (one screw each), disconnected ignitor wires, removed the bracket holding the burners (one screw), followed ignitor wires to silver box covering the ignitor unit (2 screws), opened it & replaced ignitor. Forgot to say - 1st thing I did was turn off power & gas to the range. Of course you need to ensure it is the correct one for your stove. The ignitor you remove should have a manufacturer part number on it. No calibration required on mine - a sealed electronic unit. Probably about 10 wires that need to be R&R'ed - they are on with reuseable fasteners.

Front burner slow in lighting on jenn-air stove top. All other burners light quickly. Could it be the ignighter? Can I switch out ignighters with a back burner that we seldom use?

Yes, it most likely is the ignitor. Chances are it simply needs to be cleaned (ignitor, burner etc.)

If cleaning it does not solve the problem, I reccomend replacing it with a new one.

A malfunction of that type causes gas buildup and can result in excessive ignition when it finally does light. As they get worse, they litterally create mini explosions and can become fire hazzards.

For that reason I reccomend that you do not use that ignitor on any burner with such a malfunction.

You should be able to find a new ignition assembly at your local appliance parts warehouse, or by calling the manufacturer.

Burners sometimes will not light

You can check the ignitors/wiring by switching

the output wires at the spark module. If the

front ones work & back ones stop working, change

out the module. If no change take a look at the

ignitor(remove screw on bottom to remove

ignitor), ignitor wire & ground wire by removing

the burners.

Possible Causes Of Continuous Sparking:
Defective spark wires.
Continuous high heat can cause spark wires to

degrade. Use volt/ohm meter to determine

of spark wires. Look for obvious cuts/ abrasions

or pinch points. A defective wire can allow
spark voltage to transfer through insulation to

ground prior to reaching spark electrode. Under
normal circumstances all igniters fi re together

and if the burner in question has found an

ground path the spark will go there. It will

not, however, in most cases have found a

ground path such as what the fl ame would

provide under normal circumstances. This will

the spark module to re-ignite.

Electrical ignition constantly blinking

The ignitor module is probably wet, or has failed, or the switch on your burner control has failed. Ignitor is usaually on back of unit, toward the top. I would concentrate on the ignitor unit.

When I try to light my jenn air gas cook top it clicks but will not light. But it will light with a match

Your electronic ignitor is bad. You can buy a replacement ignitor where you bought your grill. Just about any hardware store will have a replacement ignitor. They are real easy to replace. There is 1 wire to the back of the ignitor. There is a retaining nut on the switch. Remove the switch and replace with new switch. Plug wire into ignitor, Turn gas on and test ignitor.

Jenn air range, model CVG4280B, repair, ignitor problem. Ignitors will not work on any burner. Burners can be lit manually. Power is available at the electical box. Fan comes on when either burner turned...

I do not know the cause BUT the fan behavior (on for left burners, off for right burners) is by design. The high-speed fan has two switches; 1) the primary switch visible centered between top two knobs, 2) secondary switches integrated with left burner knobs.
