Mitsubishi vs-5051 I just got a mitsubishi vs-5051 from a friend and the TV works good. However, it is very dark and the picture is very hard to see. What do you think it needs, and any idea of the cost?

First you can safely take off back and look for Screen controls&Focus, Gently turn up the 3 screen controls this will add light to picture, but you need to evenly turn up, the 3 colors are red, blue, green. the other 3 knobs are for focus. Do not turn them if you do you will need to realign the focus also. And if this doesn't help then there is a high voltage capacitor leaky in the flyback area.

I need a picture tube for my mitsubishi vs-5051 40in projection tv, how much do they generally cost? whats a good website or store in my area of manor texas?

Honestly, sorry to give you the bad news and I'm one for trying to repair then throw out but, buy a new 42" flat panel it will be a lot cheaper. Mitsubishi quite making these size CRT's over 5 years ago and a replacement tube would cost more than buying a new replacement 42" TV.
My thoughts is that this 5051 is over 13 years old.

Vs 4561 weak picture

Good Day, Techwanab;

Look for this to be your problem: CHECK FOR OPEN L2C50 PART #325C146030 ON THE SIGNAL PCB, OR BAD CONNECTIONS AND LEAKY CAPS IN THAT AREA.

Hope this was helpful and not too late.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

I can help you here follw my pictures and be sure you have a reciever hooked up so the TV can identify it.In some cases like in picture #2 you have to tell the TV that its on by entering it in your self ,(notice the pic.2 Ive selected NO on right side ) you have to use the Volume /Enter keys to make the change,and you probably already learned that you have to highlite each move your at that your changing.d116022.jpg9f9fa1f.jpg

Mitsubishi vs 5051 rear projection tv sound but no picture

No video but good audio Mitsubishi VS5051. Check R509 and R 519, 100 ohm resistors located on the main PCB near the flyback transformer. Also bad connections on any of the yokes and the vertical output IC will cause the same problem.

Corroded Board

The best place for board repair or replace is PTS 1-800-844-7871 Yes you would need to fill the CRT's fluid level back up. The liquid is Glycnol(Liquid anti-freeze) Poisonious yes is swallowed! So take precautions. You can get if from places like MCM electronics, Tritronics, bluestar-online.com, etc. It's called CRT coolant fluid. Yes and you would need to fix leak, probably a gasket or seal. Hope this helps!
