Samsung syncmaster sa350 start computer up then in the top left corner it shows a graphic that says hdmi, then the computer screen goes blank and the power button just blinks red continueously with a blank...

Is your computer connected via the HDMI cable? If not pull up menu and change to another input type. If it is HDMI, check cable ends. You can test by plugging into a Blue ray player and see if video plays on monitor as a test method to verify video coming from computer incase your video card has died for some reason..
Your monitor is going into sleep mode since it can not see an HDMI signal coming across the input. Check your cable though.. sounds like the biggest culprit to me.

While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Causes a Computer Monitor to Go Blank b> While a blank screen may be caused by a general power outage, more often it's a problem with the screen itself. It could be a loose video or power cable going to the monitor. If that's the case, you can get the screen working again and be back in business in a few minutes. b> Power Problems All the power might be off due to a bad outlet, switch, fuse, or circuit breaker. If you hear no sound coming from the computer and its power light is off, check the power connection and breaker or fuse. Video Cable Many times the cause of monitor blackouts is a loose video cable connection. This might happen if you move the monitor or the cable. The video cable runs from the back of the computer to the monitor. It has a multi-pin connector on each end and both of them screw down securely. If the screws aren't tight, either connector could become loose. If that happens, the video signal could stop suddenly and make the picture go blank. Check both ends of the connector to make sure they're firmly seated and the screws are tight. The cable itself might be bad. This is unlikely, but possible. b> Display Power The monitor must have power. If the power light isn't lit on the monitor, it may have been turned off or become unplugged. Press the power button to make sure it wasn't accidentally turned off. Make sure the monitor is plugged in. If it's connected to a power strip, check that the power strip is on. If that checks out, unplug the monitor and try a different outlet. Power strip sockets can sometimes fail. Flat-screen monitors may have a power-brick-style adapter. It, too, has connectors. Follow the power cable from the monitor's power plug back to the monitor. About halfway up you'll find a thick rectangular plastic brick. The power goes into a modular-style equipment socket. This can become loose. Follow the wire the rest of the way to the monitor. It connects to the back of the screen with a small round plug. Check that it's firmly plugged in. If everything's plugged in right and the power light on the monitor's still off, the power brick might be bad. b> Video Card Some computers have a separate video card inside. It may come loose and cause a blank screen. If this is the case, open the computer and inspect the video card. Sometimes removing and reseating the card will fix the problem. If it has to be replaced, most video cards are not expensive.

My samsung 940N acts like a florescent tube, tries to start and doesn't

Use the self test feature.. follow the steps..

1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.
2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
3. Turn on the monitor.
If the monitor is functioning properly, you will see a box in the illustration below.
This box appears during normal operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or
damaged.
4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the
monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after using the previous procedure, check your video
controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.

Warning

The Power supply inside the monitor can be hazardous and donot open the monitor while power on.

Donot work with the monitor when it is open and the power supply is on.

If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the
screen goes blank although the power indicator LED is still on. The message may indicate
that the monitor is out of scan range or that you need to check the signal cable.

Video cards that can handle two monitors at the same time have cables with two plugs on the monitor end.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.

Monitor keeps blank even the power lLED is on green

If it's working fine in DOS, it can only be your display drivers for your operating system. What happes when you start in SAFE MODE? When you PC starts, keep pressing the F8 key, go to Safe Mode. If it works, bring the Resolution down to 800 X 600 and load the new display card drivers. Restart, should be fine.
