122 Error (Communication)

It seems the unit will not read its own S00 number that is embedded for the smartcard technology. How can I reset it or force it to read what was originally programmed? Can I reprogram the S00 number?

If it has an internal smart card it is possible that dishnetwork has the wrong smart card number listed for that receiver on your account info, no there is no way to reprogram it

You mean the dish N card with the channel logos on it? If it doesn't read it then its the wrong card. You can go into setup and try to test system and see if it reads card. If not you have a damaged or tampered card. And no you can't reprogram the card. Atleast not Legally!

It may not have the current software downloaded as well it may have a bad smartcard inside as well. The current software as of 1/12/11 for the VIP 211 is L5.61. It says i need a new smartcard to use this i thought they werent

Every couple of years we update our smart cards for our receivers for security purposes and enhancements. If a receiver has not been used within that period of time, when you try to connect the receiver you will get that message stating the smart card needs to be updated. You can call 1-800-333-3474 to order a new smart card. I hope this helps.

Dish Network - Loss of signal after smart card upgrade.

Hi I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern.. Since you did already all the troubleshooting to fix the problem and according to the customer service, just run the check switch and test, that should fix the problem, but it didnt. The blue card that your refering is the g3 smartcard, it started when u insert to the 301 receiver.. It could be a bad smartcard or the receiver is bad, If you have another solo receiver in the house, just to isolate the problem, try to hook up the other solo receiver in the room where the 301 receiver is hook, run a check switch and test to the other solo receiver, once its done check your sat and signal, once its ok, cancel all the way out and it should acquire the sat will show attention 015 and let it finish the progress until it download the programming guide.. once u got a picture and the problem still exist with a different receiver. the problem is with the receiver and the receiver needs to be replace, if you call on dish network tech support, tell them that you try using another receiver and install to the room were the 301 is located, so that they wont do a troubleshooting again.. that is.. if you have another receiver to test and isolate the problem, but if not request for a service call so that they will send tech to your house.. please feel free to get in touch.

Can the second card over ride the internal card?

Yes they are able to work with the internal and external smart cards. The internal is not really a card at all and is over ridden by the external device. In order to get the new smartcard to operate you need to follow the instructions that came with it. In some cases you may need to call dish and have them associate the new smartcard with the receiver and have it forced through on their end. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Dish Network "Blue" Smart Card upgrade... Now get only "015"

The solution is usually a simple one and that has been suggested already but I will ask you to try one thing first. Remove the new smartcard and do not put one in. If the receiver still displays a picture and yoou can get to menu 611 run a check switch. After this is performed cancel out of the screens and re insert the new smartcard. Once the system comes back up perform the same steps as you did before with the smart card removed. If this fails you can try the solution they offered which was to update the sofware. There is no reason your software should be outdated if you were using this receiver before the new smartcard but try anyway as it may SOMEHOW work. Using the remote turn the receiver itself off. Allow the receiver sometime to turn itself back on-this could take awhile so plan this when you leave for work or are going to be gone from the house for sometime so you do not get bored waiting for this to occur. If the receiver has not turned back on in 45 minutes or more then the receiver will either need replacing -which i suggest- or they will try to send you a new smartcard if you talk to Cust service. Tell them you want a service call to fix the receiver. While you have them on the phone verify your receiver number and the new smartcard number which is on the back of the card and ask them to send a hit to the receiver. If the receiver has not been associated with the new smartcard or if the smartcard was not loaded with all of your programmming this should fix the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
