Question about Sharp AL 1631 Copier

Black copies after water leak

There was a leak in the ceiling of the office and a very small amount of water got into the machine. most of the water was on the platen flat glass; however there was some dampness inside the copier. If the drum is very carefully cleaned off(very gently wiped with a soft non-lint cloth) , most of the first copy will be very good, but the last inch or so will be starting to get black. The second or succeeding copies will be completely black

Some one moved the copier to storage -- am trying to get approval to have it returned -- as soon as it is returned I will try your suggestion and let you know results.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Check your toner cartrige and pull ot the drum unit, if they are wet they need to be replaced.
dry out that cavity where those 2 units go with paper towels. don't ever use canned air, it can blow developer into the drive gears. developer is 70% iron filings and 30% toner.
Good luck

You will need to look for water line leaks but water in small amounts can also come from a defrosting drip pan. The dust and fuzz that get into these things over the years also can cause water to go where it is not suppose to.

I have an Aquasmart W80T65C. After each load there is a small amount of water under the machine. The water is dripping off a black rubber elbow at right rear of the machine.

Hi - if you could try this - fill the machine with water and leave it overnite to see if there is any water on the floor.

Yes - then just tilt the machine on its back & find the leak.
No - then there is a small hole on the drain hose, this will be due to the movement of the bowl - rubs against something and over time springs a leak.

My washer has one on it now - just located the pin hole & wrapped duct tape around it - works fine for us.

Leaking from underneath the machine

If the washer leaks all the time, check these: Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate. Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician. Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.

Water on floor; small amount to begin with..15 loads ago?, now lots of water (1+ gallon) and black grease on floor. slow spin, noisy and hard to get spinning.

if this machine is an older model, it may not be worth the effort to get it repaired. This sounds like the transmission and spin tube are on the way out, and there is some seeping around those seals. The transmission is probably leaking and will soon fail.

Water leaking from freezer

Check for a blocked defrost drain. Take the panel off at the back of the freezer section and find the small hole at the very bottom center below the cooling coils. Use hot (but not boiling) water and a turkey baster to flush it out until water runs through it. (it will go into the defrost drain pan, where it will evaporate)
This will prevent water from comming out the freezer door and leaking onto your floor and running down your copper pipe to the basement.
