Check the calibration of the sender unit as may actually be on empty. Find out the exact capacity of the tank and add a known amount of fuel and see where the gauge reads. For example if the tank is 60 ltrs or 20 gallons add 5 gallons and see where the gauge reads. 5 gallons in 20 gallons should read 1/4 or in your case after the engine stops should read 1/4 full. If it reads 1/2 then the sender is out.

Fuel pump location on ford f150 how many are there on a 92f150 with daul tanks

Norman
Thomas is correct, you have an electric pump located inside each fuel tank. If one tank works, but not the other a bad pump is the most likely cause. If neither tank will supply fuel, most likely there is an issue with supplying power to the tank switching valve or in the tank selection switch, itself.

Not getting pulses to fuel injectors

Fuel filter stopped up, fuel pump relay needs to be checked and replaced or fuel pump itself is bad. Have some get down on their knees at the side of your car and turn on the ignition switch, can you should be able to hear the pump pulse in the tank, if not replace relay and filter first. Pump is inside tank.

I have an problem with my fuel system and filter and troubleshooting car run but afte awhile fromm drivin g it stalls

I have seen two different causes for this problem.

A. Something in the tank, like a small piece of plastic that gets sucked to the fuel inlet. Then after the car dies it flows backward, then allows the car to start again for awhile.

B. (And more likely) There is a thermal overload switch on the fuel pump. When fuel pumps start to go bad the bearings drag causing the pump to get hot and eventually blow this time delay fuse that resets itself when the pump cools down. I would have the fuel pump pulled and checked and then have the tank inspected at the same time since you are in there anyway.

Either the fuel line from the front tank to the switching valve is plugged or kinked, or the valve is not moving all the way to that tank (if electrically switched). Pull the hose (from that tank) off at the valve--do you get good fuel flow? If the front tank is lower than the valve, try switching the fuel lines from the two tanks at the valve, and set the switch for the rear tank. If it now runs, clean the valve or replace it.

Front tank sputters and truck dies

It definitely has something to do with the fuel flow from the front tank. It may be the fuel pump again, the older F-150's with two tanks soemtimes have problems with the fuel pumps because of the extra pull from two tanks, and the switching between them.

You could check the fuel filter (assuming there are two fuel filters, one for each tank)...but otherwise it sounds like a fuel pump problem, or possibly an obstruction in the switching mechanism for the two tanks, or an obstruction in the line itself. Hope that helps!

Hit a rock with the fuel tank and the car shut down, is there a fuel shut off switch on it?

I tried to post this once,so here goes the 2nd time, there is an emergency shut-off switch on the fuel-somtimes located in the rear and if you hit a big pot-hole it will shut down-that could be your problem-call the dealership-ask for the service dept and ask them if your car has the switch-if so where? Or it may be electrical-check to see if you have a loose cable or wire by your fuel tank
