Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Side buttons not functioning

I own a couple Nikon Coolpix 5700s. One of them works pefectly.. the other one refuses to respond to any of the side buttons. I've already cleared all the personal preference saved settings - still no dice. This problem keeps me from being able to change the: flash mode, photo resolutions, macro / infinity focos modes.. It almost acts as if it's somehow stuck in an "auto mode" which disables the side button panel completely, but I've set both of my cameras back to default settings, and still one camera will not work with the side button, and the other is fine. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much for your time!

I ended up finding out that the camera I was having issues with was indeed still under warranty / manufacturer recall. I ended up sending it in. About a month later, I received the camera back in fully operational condition!

Make sure the SD card is not set to protect with the small slide switch on the side of the card, then try formatting the SD card NOT the internal memory.

Try resetting the camera by removing the battery for 15 mins, then insert the battery and go into the Menu to set the Date and Time.

Nikon coolpix lens error

Hello Ken,

The lens error in many cameras are caused due to sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials stick to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the carrying case. To resolve the lens error remove the battery for some time. Then insert the battery again and charge the battery completely. Then try pressing and holding the Menu, Function, Function Set, or OK button while turning the camera on. Also try the factory reset option. Also try the on/off button many times after battery full charge.

I am not able to find, How to turn of the Flash of Nikon Coolpix 8700. When i need to take pictures without flash, but when i click, it automaticaly turns on the flash, and i tried to figured it out how to...

ok. there is a button on the side of the lens. it has an eyeball and a bolt of lightning, press that button and look in the top right corner of the screen. keep on pressing this button until you see; a lightning bolt with a circle with a line threw it. then "click". if that doesn't work switch your camera to manual and try this again.

Nikon S200 Lens stuck inside

I had the same issue with my S210, so after reading other people's advice to send it in to Nikon and since that was going to probably cost me as much as the camera itself I figured it wouldn't hurt to try a little something. The lens on mine was a hair off center or had been pushed in on one side (barely - looking at yours you may be able to tell which side) - mine was in my purse also. So, I took my handy dandy skinny prying instrument (normal kitchen butter knife) took the battery out to make it try to open again, then when I popped the battery in as the lens tried to push out I pried the side I thought was a little lower back towards center...I heard a little pop and it worked! The lens came all of the way out and it's all good.

So, use gentle hands and try if you want, but don't think I warranty this!

Lens error

ouch - - I have a 995 coolpix.
I 'smacked' mine hard from the side, and this relocated the mechanism (I crippled mine by attaching to my roadrace bike - it did not like the vibration) works fine now though.

Would recommend :
1 - dismantle carefully, and you will probably find the mechanism has misaligned
2 - submit to nikon for repair (or other repair house)
3 - I have a 4300 you can buy

Black monitor Nikon Coolpix S4 Digital

Give the lense side of the camara a few moderate slaps while moving camara from bright to dark obgects back and forth. the shutter gets stuck and doesn't respond to changing light. that's why outdoor pictures are usually too bright and indoor pictures are black.
good luck.
