I bet if you go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) and use it in place of generic, ultra-cheap dishwasher powder, your problems will be solved almost immediately.

If you still have problems, please post back here. OK?

Please report back with what solved your problem, OK?

Not only did I suffer from the problem of generic dishwasher powder causing problems, I have found at least 8 other people here (as of April, 2009)who have found the very same problem. That is because the generics have added fillers that are mineral based that does not dissolve, does build up on the enclosure of the dishwasher and especially on the silverware - white "blotches" and very poor cleaning. Our problem's were solved by switching back to a brand name powder. This is not some sort of scam reply trying to get you to spend more money needlessly. (I am a big believer in buying store brand and generics for almost everything, but it has been proven that many generic dishwasher soap actually causes problem, so I don't buy the ultra-cheap. FYI: I have found that the Kirkland brand @ Costco to work as well as the two brand names I mentioned above.

Please report back what you find fixes your problem. If, after testing the detergent theory, the problem continues, and if your problem includes a film on most glassware, then suspect that your heating element has failed. No heat _will_ cause dishwasher to not fully dissolve and not activate, but rather build up on the dishes.

If the problem continues after confirming that the heating element is working during the wash cycle, then after confirming that the filter and wash arm is not seriously blocked, your main wash pump motor is almost certainly weakening to the point of failing soon.

Again, my reply was not a scam to by a more expensive product. I seriously have found that ultra-cheap dishwasher powder does cause the exact symptoms you reported. PLEASE report bank what you find to be the cause and please post the manufacturer and model number of your dishwasher when you reply.

    Good Luck!

Soap gets clotted is soap dispenser. Dishes greasy and dirty after cycle.

Hi, the soap is clotting because there isn't enough water being sprayed around inside. The water spray washes the soap out of the dish, if all is working well. My machine had the same problem. I had sufficient water level, but the spray head wasn't spinning very well. I found the end-most hole in the spray bar to be plugged. It is the end hole that provides a jet that makes the head spin. I cleaned a bunch of debris out of the hole and the machine started working and cleaning like it was new.

Soap doesn't empty from dispenser

Assuming you are using the correct detergent powder, check if the dishes are remaining dirty.

The water from the impeller may not be rushing up enough due to blockage or limited movement of impeller arm. Follow the insructions to clean the impeller, filter etc or check base of drawer for obstructions to impeller arm.

Dirty dishes

plugged jets, possible
more likely it is leftover food reminance left in the pump area. and on certain dishwashers it could be a swollen check valve, not allowing the evacuation of the used dirty water.
does your soap dispenser open?

Kitchen aid NOT CLEANSING DISHES

It sounds like you are not getting enough water to make the dishwasher function effectively. Could be a bad valve could even be that the spray arms aren't letting through enough water.

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. Casade cleaner not disolved.???

Run the unit with no soap, after about 5 min. of run time open door and check to see if water is clear or soapy,If soapy then you are having an oversudsng issue. When your washer gets to rinse cycle, your unit (if oversuding),will be rinsing with soapy water and the the drying cycle bakes the soap on dishes. You might be having a white film on your clear glasses.Cut down on soap especially if you have soft water.powder soap is best.Your dishwasher will fill , wash , the drain. Its what you put into it that will cause dishes not become clean.
