Question about Computers & Internet
We added more memory to our desktop. There is power going to the tower, it turns on but the monitor and keyboard will not turn on. I get a message that the monitor is working (blue light flashes)and to check the signal cables. All cables have been checked, rechecked and unplugged.
A couple of things here:
1) The flashing light and signal message indicate that the monitor is functioning but is not receiving a signal from the computer.
2) The memory that you added is liklely to be incompatible with the computer itself and is preventing the system from booting. The computer will perform a selftest when powered on. Normally when there is a memory issue, the unit will beep. In some cases, there will be no action.
Remove the added memory and attempt to boot the system. If it starts up OK, then the memory you have added is the problem.
Update this if you require additional assistance.
