Question about Computers & Internet

Hibernates by itself!

I have a Dell workstation which is hibernating by itself! This happens when there is no activity for 10 minutes or so. I have checked the basics like power settings (never) & screen saver options (180 minutes). Any help would be much appreciated. J.B.

Go to control panel, then click on "Power Options" You should see a tab that says "hibernate" click on that, then make sure the box labeled "enable hibernate" is unchecked. Click Apply, then click OK. That should take care of it for you.

When you get access, go into power options, select hibernate top right, and uncheck the box to the left to disable it, this will free up more disc space and get rid of microsoft worst idea.

My dell Studio laptop takes too long to wake from sleep mode and the monitor just flickers when i try to switch on

If you use Windows 7, u might have hybrid sleep activated. This is similar to hibernate. When u choose SLEEP, your computer goes to hibernate. Sometimes this hibernate just hangs. You have to reboot computer.
Try pressing the power button for several seconds (10-15). It should power off the laptop.
If not, unplug the charger and remove the battery for a few minutes. Then try to start it up again.

Dell inspiron 1525 when starting it says resuming windows then goes to hibernating with a little blue curser going around

Turn the computer off, remove the battery, make sure it is not plugged in to power, and hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Wait about a minute before re-installing the battery. If it does it again, hold F10 while the computer is turning on, this should bring you to the "boot select" menu, use the arrows on the keyboard and select "start windows normally" instead of "resume windows". When you get it started up run "Defrag" to prevent this from happening again.
When windows hibernates it saves everything in the ram to a "swap file" on the hard disc. Sometimes hard disc's get "bad sectors", this is considered wear and tear, it happens eventually to all drives. It sounds like there is a bad sector on your disc where the swap file is stored, so you have to start windows without using that part of the disc, then by running defrag the computer will find the bad sector and remember not to use it anymore.
Have a nice day.

Open up the Control Panel and double-click on the Power Options applet. Change your current power settings so that the monitor will not turn off after 20 minutes of idle time (set it to Never).

How to turn on toshiba satellite M300 laptop from hibernating mode

hi shirleygty, is that automatic hibernation (the computer hibernates by itself) or manual hibernation (by pressing the hibernate button)? If either applies to your case you might need to update the BIOS information for your computer to fix the power management issues on it. You can get it here. Just run the file, click install & choose Install From Windows. Make sure you don't have any BIOS password or any external devices connected to the computer. When the update completed successfully, your computer will automatically restart, then try hibernating this time (manual or automatic). I do recommend setting the hibernation to 1min. at the control panel > power options > change when to turn off the display. When it hibernates, pressing any keys or the power button should wake up the computer.

Hope this helps.
