Won't work with Vista 64 bit

I have just bought a computer running Vista 64 bit with core duo. My Premiere Elements 3 just makes the computer hang and the only solution is to turn off the power to regain control. I have set it to run as xp but it makes no difference. A friend runs the same program with vista 32 bit no problem.

How can I open 64bit TurboTax Mac 2013 on my 32bit Mac (OS X 10.6.8)?

If your computer has a core 2 duo or later, it has a 64-bit cpu and TurboTax should work. Any core duo or earlier cpu is 32-bit only and will not work. Considering the number of computers with older processors out there, Intuit has badly miscalculated not compiling TurboTax for both 32-bit and 64-bit machines. Not clearly stating the processor requirements might also leave them open to fraud, misrepresentation, and class action suits. Attorneys take note.

Why is my computer still lagging even after I close the game

Sounds like there is some process being run that is eating up a lot of your RAM. One thing to check is that you are using a 64-bit install of windows if you are using 32-bit it won't matter that you have 6gb as you can only use 3gb with it. It could be that you are running 32-bit and 7 is taking up about a gb of RAM while the games (even when closing) take up 2gb or so. So you could be maxing your 3gb on 32-bit.

check and make sure both windows Vista and office plus 2010 are both 32-bit system. If your windows vista is 32-bit and your office plus 2010 is 64-bit then the office won't install.
this is how your check if your computer is a 32-bit or 64-bit system

1. click start
2. look for my computer
3. right-click my computer
4. click PROPERTIES
5. from the properties window you will see if your vista is a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system.

for your MS OFFICE plus 2010 brows the cd and to determine if your office is a 32 bit or 64 bit
1. you should see x86= this is a 32 bit
2. x64 = this is a 64 bit

Diffrence

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system. For more details, go to A description of the differences between 32-bit versions of Windows Vista and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista online.

32 bit IE won't connect to internet in Vista 64 bit.

32 bit programs, last I checked, won't work in a 64 bit operating system, just as 64 bit won't work in 32 bit operating systems.

If 32 bit programs will work in a 64 bit OS, they probably won't work properly.

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask me" again and likewise the previous ratings.

To my knowledge, Vista x64 is just an x32 with 64 bit addressing. Some have reported that 64 bit on a Core 2 Duo isn't a very good idea with the extra speed gain of x64 over x86 being marginal for now. Offhand, you might be better off still with X32 at least for the time being.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
