Changing automatic generation of video file names?

When I record video with my Panasonic SDR-H60 on either the SD card or the hard disk, the video files are automatically stored in folders that are created automatically - one for each new date (PRG001, PRG002, etc.) The individual file names are generated automatically within each folder like this: MOV001.MOD, MOV002.MOD ... MOV009.MOD. Then it changes to: MOV00A.MOD, MOV00B.MOD ... MOV00F.MOD. After that the sequence changes again to: MOV010.MOD, MOV010.MOD ... MOV019.MOD. Then on to: MOV01A.MOD, MOV02A ... MOV09A.
And so it goes on.
This makes it awkward when I want to import the files into my Pinnacle software for editing and creating a project with video files from more than one date folder because the files have the same names. In other words, I may have a MOV001.MOD file in several date folders. I know I can choose to change the file names in Pinnacle when I import them, but it's just an extra step I have to do. Is it possible to choose how my camera should generate the file names while recording - or is the only way to change the file names in Pinnacle during the import?

SOURCE: failed creating file

I had to re-do the project, this time using Standard Quality rather than High Quality, and it completed creating the file(s) and writing the DVD.

SOURCE: Does Pinnacle work with Panasonic SDR-H60?

Hi there.

It states in your manual to only use the software provided to copy, transfer, or edit video recorded on this camera on your pc. BUT...a workaround for this so you can use your PInnacle software (I love Pinnacle Systems software) is to record you video and use the software provided to create a DVD video, then you can import that into Pinnacle for editing later. Try it.

SOURCE: Conversion of .mod file.

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv, mp4,mkv, flv and other common video formats?

People who own JVC MOD camcorders, Panasonic MOD camcorders or Canon MOD camcorders encountered the same issue with--- what to do with the MOD files---the God forsaken video format. And they hope that there is a magic tool to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that they can put camcorder video on Mysapce, Google video, Hulu later to share with more people,...and thers is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD format. even windows video maker, i have to say it's too complicated to use

Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.

any simple soulution? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.

How to remove write protection from my panasonic SDR-H60 camera

If the write-protect has been set on the camera, then a brief perusal of the manual should enable you to choose the menu option for changing this. If the recording media has been finalised, then it is not possible to reverse this, as far as I know.

Hi. My Panasonic SDR-H60 HDD Camcorder camcorder got wet while at Disney at first it worked when I turned it on but then stopped. Its its a 30 Gb I think? anyway I lost all my memories 3 years worth :(...

If it has a memory card, usually SD or SHD mini-card, buy, beg or borrow a card-reader which plugs into your computer USB port, try copy / recover files from card to PC.
If you can't see the files then maybe try free download Express Recovery.
