My a55 s1064 screen was flickering and finally went black. on line research suggested that the problem could be an inverter malfunction. I replaced the inverter but the screen remains black. when I turn the computer on, if I hold a flashlight close to the screen, I can see everything on the desktop. do I now need to replace the lcd screen or is it a different problem?

SOURCE: I need toshiba satellite A55-S1064 utility/drivers

You will need to call Toshiba's tech support line and get a new disk. Be careful to get the correct disk. I had them send me the wrong one once and I was frustrated for days.

Toshiba satellite m305-s4910 flickering toolbar

My M305-S4910 was doing the same thing. After some research, I replaced the video cable. The flickering was not as bad, but still there. I just replaced the inverter, and the pink line beneath the toolbar is now gone and so is the flickering. :-)

I have a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1063 the scrren is dim but I can still see using a flashlight. I have had the back light replaced once it worked great for about 2 weeks and then went back to being very...

Hello !

Since the screen is dim, the display's inverter board needs to be replaced.

If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues) before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen suddenly went dim on you rather than a slow degradation, the inverter would be indicated.

Hope this helps.

Help! My Toshiba satellite a55-s1063's lamp is burnt out. laptop works fine, have material I need to access. Need to find out, can I replace it myself? I only have the basic manual. Can I get a link to...

You most likely have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :- To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions. Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case. The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills. Check out www.lcdparts.net for parts, repair service and DIY info.

Keyboard on lab top

Hi again, Steven,

It sounds like the "film" under your keys may have been the victim of a rainy day :-)
- Or just worn out, it’s only a thin film, and if you use the keyboard like an old typewriter, then :-)
If you are not familiar with how to take your laptop apart, I´d suggest that you have someone to put in a new film for your keyboard.
It will typical cost you one hour plus the film, about $20.
