Sounds like impact. Try putting new Good batteries in. If that doesn't work, you can contact Kodak to see where the local "authorized" service center in your area is, I know of 2 in South Florida.

Kodak c513 lens loose and will not retract camera switches on displays lens error then switches off.

All I can tell you from my own experience, is that the lens mechanism got damaged in some way.

Nobody's fault I'm sure, but you need to take it to a camera repair depot.

*** Before doing that, please check the warranty period either from the manufacturer or the retailer.
If you used a Credit Card to purchase it, some companies offer an extended warranty.
It will be worth your while to find out before making any decisions.

I had a friend that ran into the same problem, but his solution is not what I would recommend but it did work for him. He used sewing machine oil and applied a tiny amount less than a drop to the crevice of the camera body and the outer lens housing, his was stuck in the retracted position, and he got it going again without a problem.

My lens are stuck and my camera won't turn on.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

I took the batteries out of my Kodak C513 while it was turned on so I could clean the lens, and when I put the batteries back in, I could not turn it back on.

Pls. use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).

Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera.
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Without the memory card, turn on your camera.

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

NO don't buy another one. You can send it in for repair and it should only cost around 65.00 to have the lens replaced. I repair these all the time and it just take some time to have fixed. Or You can trade it in for a upgraded camera also. Upgrade you camera check out some of the offers out there. "There are places like mine that offer great deals".
