Thanks for the suggestion. I took the unit apart to find a lot of the gel cascade still in the base along with other particles. The sump itself looked OK. I will try changing from the gel type cascade to a powder. Thanks again.

Beware, I just had the LG, representative repairman, come out. Shook his head, and replied "Never seen that before, I will have to call the manufacture. These guys get paid for that? Sure glad it's not out of my pocket. Tried suggestion even more is coming out from somewhere?

The LG LDF7811 Dishwasher is a water and energy conserving unit. So, anything the obstructs the wash pump reduces its ability. here are some steps to follow:

1.) Buy a box of brand name dishwasher detergent powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) Use it and avoid generic powders and never use gels or tablets in any dishwasher.)

2.) Remove the lower basket and then the lower spray arm (pull it up and out firmly)

3) Remove the approximate 9 phillips screws from the filter assembly beneath where the spray arm was. (Take a digital picture of each stage, so you can reassemble later.)

4.) Rinse/wash everything, especially the filter "orb" with the mesh panels, as best you can.

5.) With a flashlight, inspect the sump area that you just exposed. Watch out for broken glass! Remove all debris and look one more time for any little chunks that may be blocking stuff down there.

6.) Inspect the impeller, looking for damage, being plugged. Make sure it spins freely, but is also securely fastened to the top with the screw.

Reassemble the dishwasher and test.

Please report back with what you find. OK?

Thanks and Good Luck!

Why do dishes have tiny specks after washing.

This is common. Make sure the air gap is clear. The spray arm is not clogged. Some dishwasher just don't flush all the food particles out. Try a high quality detergent.

The dishwasher does not always drain completely after a cycle. But the biggest problem is that dishes are clean but aren't rinsed completely leaving a bumpy residue of small food particles. Most noticeable...

The filter is probably blocked.

It is inside the base of the machine.

Take out the filter and clean it and also clean out the filter well as that can also hold quite a bit of debris.

How to remove debris from the drain holes at the bottom of the dishwasher tub, which is preventing the tub from draining all of the water completely?

I had a similar problem when my dishwasher wouldn't drain and was causing the kitchen sink to back up. I poured a little drain cleaner in the bottom of the tub (where the drain holes are) and let it stand for about 15 minutes then ran a hot rinse cycle (don't put any dishes in the dishwasher while you're doing any of this). The water still hadn't all drained but after a day or two of not using the dishwasher it drained on it's own and hasn't had any problems since. I would recommend reading your manual to make sure that using drain cleaner doesn't void any warranty you may have. Also, it's a good idea to do an empty rinse cycle at least once so that there's no chemicals getting on your dishes.

There is so much debris left on the dishes after the dishwasher has run, it's almost not worth running it. The debris is mostly small hard bits on the inside of glasses from the top shelf. Is this a...

this is a maintenance problem.. if the bits look like grains of sand it is actually food particles that breaks down during the cycle spraying the cups and glasses (usually the top shelf that gets hit worst). solution is to run a dishwasher cleaner through the system on a hot wash. To remove and wash bottom filters and spray arm jets. Lastly when loading the DW make sure excess food are scraped/rinsed off ...you will get better results. Thanks

Before loading into the machine you have to remove food particles. Washer will wash the greasy surface. If particles are left in the dishes, the same will find entry to the drain system. Check the drain filter in your machine. Clean them. Mostly problem will be solved!

Dishwasher leaves food particles on dishes

You are not getting enough water in the machine. The inlet valve is probably plugged with sand or something of the sort. You will need to replace the inlet valve.

LG Dishwasher redepositing debris back onto dishes

Have had a problem with our LG 5811 Dishwasher not operating.
I have found the Vent Hole Cover located inside the Door was not installed correctly. I used plumber putty between the plastic fitting and the inside face of the Door and turned the Cover fully to lock in place (vent hole is toward Door bottom). Water was leaking previously from this opening over the wires in the door.

Another problem was the lower Door Seal (under the Door) it was not installed correctly either. It was actually too long and would not seal against the bottom of the inclosure. Water was coming out and spraying the wires in the door. I had to remove the metal stiffener over the front of the Dishwasher to get to the Door Seal. I removed one end and reinstalled the seal. The Seal laid flat but was approximately 3/16" to long. I cut off the end with a sharp knife - seems to be the correct length now.

Food particles are on dishes after washing

Try adding bicarb of soda/baking soda and vinegar in the detergent dispenser. Bicarb fizzes off hardened particles and vinegar strips off grease and aids rinsing.
