Re: screwdriver tools

Its a Tri-Wing bit. Just google "security bit" and you'll find hundreds of vendors.

Others that have had the same problem were directed to this site for the triwing bit: . You may also want to check a Harbor Freight tool store if you have one locally (they're also listed as 'security bits'), as that would be your best bet to get an individual bit without buying an entire set.

How to remove lens from Olympus SP-550uz or Olympus SP-560uz

This cleaning process is very delicate and sensitive. Cleaning lens should be done by authorized or pro camera technician. I suggests you to bring it to the nearest cam service center because they have appropriate tools to open the camera and properly clean it. A single failure or error on cleaning it by yourself might give fatal result to your camera.

The batteries cover of my digital camera Epson PhotoPC 3100 Z is broken. How can I replace it with a new one, buy or repair ?

This something you will have to contact a local camera shop for repair. They normally do not carry your exact part always due to the low % they may see but may order one for you.I would almost bet they will want at least $50(+or- $10) for repair. If they will not order the part for you,you will need to contact Epson at the link below. If it does require a screwdriver, normally the cameras have small screws and you need what is called a jeweler's set of screwdrivers. Not to worry though. They are very common, you may have seen them but not know it.They are the tiny screwdrivers, usually a set of 4 or 5 of them with a clear plastic top part to see them, usually at many major stores like K-Mart,Walmart,etc. although most of the employees do not seem to know their real name.Just go to the tools section and look. The person there, and maybe a few English speaking stock people may know the real name.Or I guess the old where are the teeny tiny screwdrivers at could work too I guess. They usually are there. If they are not there then they likely do not have them because they are not likely in the camera deparment even though that is the most common use other than jewelry.I have never seen them there and ocassionally ask just to see if they know when I see a different employee not asked yet or at a new store and when I ask for jeweler's screwdrivers where do they send me?Please do not buy the set where there is one screwdriver with changeable tips. Those are normally dollar store types. The 4 separate packaged ones should only be $3-$4,depends where you live, and are much better built.A friend bought the changeable tip one, ruined the main screwdriver part, which made all the tips useless anyway.I bought the multi-set years ago because i mess around with alot of my own electronics and even if you may not, they are very hady in the strangest situations. One example is I had to pry something open but it was so tight/narrow,what ended up working after about 20 mins. of everything else?Good luck! I have a cracked screen, is it possible to fix?

The screens are available online, from many sources for about $45. It takes about 30 minutes to replace it, using basic tools. The only special tool you will need is a small screwdriver. Husky makes a very nice multi-bit screwdriver, model HD-74501 S. It's available from Home Depot for about $6.

Camera model SL620. Lens cover does not automatically fully retract. A small portion blocks the top and bottom of the lens but will retract if touched. Tried blowing dry air on the cover and wiping with a...

Apparently the lens has had some kind of impact to cause the lens cover to be bent a little. What happens is that the lens cover holder , or ring, on the end becomes bent or misshaped to a degree. This then causes a binding effect on the diaphragm assembly.
What I have done is to very carefully (while using good magnification) pry up on the edges of the lens cover metal edging on the inside edges. This will release the pressure on the lens cover diaphragms.
But, be advised that this is can harm the lens cover more, unless you are extremely cautious. That means to use a small screwdriver or some such tool to pry up on the inside edges carefully.
Also be advised that too much pressure can cause the whole ring which holds the diaphragm assembly together can pop up and off. Then the whole assembly can come apart, and that is very hard and can be tedious to put back together.

The lens cover won't close or open all the way.

Got It! You might try just soaking the camera for a little while like one response said. But I just removed the front face plate. There was accumulated gunk holding the lens cover, and I had the exact same symptoms you're describing. Gently wiped it all clean and presto! all good. You are not opening the camera, just removing the front face. There are three small allen screws on the front and a small phillips screw on the edge. You will need a very small (1.5mm) metric allen wrench (found in common allen wrench sets), and a very small screwdriver for a little screw on the side (found in common micro screwdriver sets). Keep track of which hole each allen set screw came from, they are all different, in fact one appears to be just decoration and has no threads, I just secured it with a tiny dab of all purpose adhesive (Ace hardware brand). Check the tab near the lens goes back in place. Dr. John Christensen

Memoey card error shoes all the time and i have tried three cards .the camera is a a75 canon power shot

Take a look inside your camera's CF card slot. I suspect that you may have a bent pin in there. If so, remove batteries and card. Use a small/skinny jeweler's flat screwdriver to bend the pin back as close as possible. The jeweler's screwdrivers that you see at the dollar store will work fine. Another tool that I sometimes use is a stiff wire with a bent hook on the end to get very flattened pins started. Take your time and use as much patience as you can muster (take a breather in between if needed). Just keep nudging it upward/straighter a "tiny bit at a time". Whatever you do, don't try to unbend it with one push/nudge, you won't be able to do it.

It doesn't have to be perfect, just as close as you can get it. When it's the best that you can get it, take your flash card and "SLOWLY" insert it. The card itself should fine-align the pin. Remove the card, and verify that the pin is still straightened. If so, reinsert the card and try it out.

Repair Fuji F30 shutter button does not work, case damaged

I also dropped my Fuji F30.
The half-press of the shutter didn't work anymore.
I bought a triwing / triblade screwdriver (about 5 euros) to open the case.
The flatcable running from the knobs on top of the F30 to the main print was a bit loose. After reconnecting it, the shutter button was fully functional again.
It seems that from the backside the most 3 three wires in the flatcable are for the shutter, so if your cable is also a bit loose, this might solve the problem.

NB Remember to only open the backside of the casing, there is no need to open the lens-side. Opening and closing the backside is really easy and could be done by anyone with the right tools. (read screwdrivers...)
