I followed everything you said. It says that everything is up to date. Any more ideas?

  • jewelwoman Apr 15, 2009

I followed all your steps...still no internet?

  • jewelwoman Apr 16, 2009

Thanks, After doing much research I found out that HP laptops are having all kinds of these issues and there are a lot of angry customers! HP is doing nothing to fix the problems with this specific laptop! I'm glad I got this one second hand and didn't put $2,000 into this like everyone else! I think I'll get an external wireless USB.

To answer your question, yes the wireless is on. I even have a blue light to show it is working but still no internet. I know it is that laptop and not my internet provider. Right now I am typing this from a different laptop. (My Toshiba....and I love it!) I'll have to remember to research specific laptops in the future BEFORE buying! (I've only had this one for one week) Oh well, hopefully it won't die altogther like what is happening to everyone else!

Thanks for your time and help!

Same issue on my dv1000. Blue light on but wireless does not detect networks.
    Work around:-
Boot into safe mode, remove driver. Boot normally - allow driver to install. Wireless will then work (until you reboot) at which time the computer will come on with the light working but again see no wireless access points...

You might have to review the driver version of your wireless. try to check if there are updates that might fixed the bug. go to my computer, right click, manage, device manager, network adapters - under it move your mouse on top of the wireless, right click, properties, driver and check driver version and date. then go to your hp pavilion product support http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=432999&taskId=135
and look for new version of network wireless driver might have. let me know if this doesnt fix the problem.

This is issue on windows vista OS for some reason.

Try to configure your boot options.

Press f10 to enter bios setup options > system
configuration > boot options > ENABLED the internal network adapter boot
    > Save and Exit.

If this fixes your problem, you might be experiencing ON and
OFF for sometime, just review this process and next time you don’t have to
change the boot options, just look on it, save and exit. It works on mine. Let
    us know.

i assume that while we are debugging your system, the wireless switch is at all times is in position to switch ON. im afraid, there is a problem with your wireless network card. before buying new one. i think you should try reinstalling the operating system and load the driver specially for your wireless network card. if problem still exist, then i suspect the wireless network card has a problem. if there is anything i can help you let us know. thanks.

You are getting Intermittent connection. Right?

Update your wireless/wired latest drivers .

Update the BIOS as well.

Then if you face the same issue, contact Internet service provider.

My hp pavillion dv1000 wont turn on it is plugged in but the charging light doesnt show up and when i push the power button nothing happens

Problem with your charger, try this :

1. Check whether the charger plug is properly inserted in the Power port/jack of your Laptop!

2. Check the power cord (any cuts OR torn-out)!

3. If above steps don't work, replace your charger.

Wireless not working

do you have built in wireless or plug n play wireless.
if you have plug n play wireless and it isnt plugged in(connected)
it wont show in device manager if its built in you should at least see wireless icon.
if you downloaded the driver from site its a self extracting file that unpacks the software to install it doesnt install in other words you need to locate the extracted file and execute it which will install the driver then pc will detect device and install to system.
also try installing wifi manager and use without zero config.

HP Pavilion DV1000 drivers...

I found the problem to be a rather simple but frustrating one....when is an HP dv1000 not a dv1000....almost always!! You cannot get the correct downloads based on the model number on the tag. You must specify the PRODUCT NUMBER on the HP download site from the tag, not model. You can enter the general DV1000 and get to the download page and look for the entry "Not your Product?!" Follow that link and enter the PN from the tag....download those and you will get drivers that work with your unit. My "DV1000" was actually a DV1660!!!!

HP dv1000 laptop and internal wireless modem

Although you have internal wireless, you are capable of attaching an external wireless device. For example, you could attached a D-Link WUA-1340 USB Wireless G adapter (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=477), or, if you have a PCI port, you can use a Linksys WPC300N Wireless-N Notebook adapter (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1144763513196&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=1319686869B07). Either device with any brand will work just like your internal wireless. In fact, because you chose to use an external device, you may get a better wireless signal. Because internal wireless devices are inside the computer, it is more difficult to received a signal than with an external device.
