hello friends. everyone commented on Monday that the problem was indicated by you, and what really happened in my MARANTZ SR5001! inform everyone what I did: "Monday 06/05/2013" - after power in former days, all times on receiving the message to "verify rom dsp". immediately efetuei the "reset" of the system, which is described in the user manual and immediately Marantz back to normal operation! however this action Not Made presents satisfactory result in next day both, and .... "Tuesday 07/05/2013" - the beginning of day 7 in the morning and turn on my Marantz follows that the same problem was repeated!!, I was very worried, but remember that I reported that my Marantz SR5001 remained off for Approximate mind 2 or 3 years, and was in use for at least 1 year. After checking that "reboot" the system did not solve the problem, this day efetuei the "restart" again for 16 hours and the Marantz was connected without interruption, at low volume. time has elapsed between 7 am to 11 pm. After this period the Marantz turned off and return the next day.

On the Marantz SR5001 if you get the "CHECK DSP ROM" it can be fixed by holding down the Multi and ATT buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. This will default any setting so be sure to know the correct input setting for your setup.

SOURCE: I have a marantz sr5001

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

I'm looking to connect a Marantz SR5001 to a Subwoofer, and there is currently no soundcoming through the sub.

On the SR series, you should find the setting for this in the setup menu on your remote. It will be easiest if you have a TV connected for video display. On the remote hit Amp -> Menu -> Speaker Setup -> Manual Setup. This should allow you to set the 'Subwoofer' setting to Yes. The subwoofer will need to be plugged in. If the setting cant be changed, try plugging in the Audassey microphone and run the calibration program which should detect the sub if its plugged in.

When i on marantz sr4600 it flashes check dsp rom, plz help me with this issue

The one that is heating up and shutting down could have a shorted output. Try removing all the speaker wires. If it still heats up and shuts down, it probably has a bad output stage.

On the one displaying the DSP ROM error, you may want to try a factory reset. using the following sequence:

Should the operation or display seem to be abnormal,
reset the unit with the following procedure.
The SR4600 is turned on, press and hold the
7.1CH INPUT and ATT buttons simultaneously for
3 seconds or more.

The red light on my Marantz SR5008 keeps flashing and wont turn on. How can I fix this

Disconnect everything and then plug in only the power. If the light still blinks, the PS is probably damaged and will need to be serviced. If the light doesn't blink, you have a shorted connection. Speaker wires are probably the most likely.

SR5004 amp on standby mode (red light blinking twice a second) / cant get it out of stand by mode

I am having the same issue as well. If you press "clear" "exit" and "surround mode" all at the same time, it will come back on. It seems to be an overheating issue. If you put a fan on it, it helps, but does not fix permanently. Anyone have any ideas for a permanent fix?

Stereo goes into standby when powdered up. I then have to unplug it and the same thing happens again

Check the speaker connections. There may be a short.
If not most likely there is a blown output stage causing the receiver to go into standby
