How do I know when the thermal fuse for my whirlpool deut electric dryer is bad?

Take it out. check it with a multimeter set on ohms. Get a hair dryer turn it on hotest setting. with meter leads on each end of the thermal fuse have someone hold the hair dryer blowing hot air on fuse. It should show continuity through it when cold. After heat is applied it should show 0 or infinity. If its working properly move on to over temp switch.

Whirlpool dryer model LER7646A blows cold air. The heating element is intact and shows resistance on the ohm meter.

make sure you have 240 volts going to the dryer, your filter is on top so remove the back panel,if the dryer hasn't been cleaned out in over two years check the thermal fuse,if that's good then check all the thermostats on the heater box, unplug the dryer, you have to remove at least one of the wires on the part you're checking with the meter, read out the parts, like i said start with the thermal fuse located to the right of the duct that the lint filter slides into,it's white and it's a 3392519.if that's good move down to the heater box.let me know what you find

No heat

Yes it is is a heater element problem. YOu have to access from the back panel. There are screws need to be removed. Once the panel is off, you can see the Blower and the heating element assembly. Take off the housing so you can replace the heater.

How do I put a heating element in a dryer?

there are a few differant styles, give me your model number and i will see which one you have.

why do you think it needs an element? if its not getting hot you may have a cheaper and quicker repair than an element

Tumble dryer running but only blowing cold air

If your dryer is turning then things are not so bad. If a dryer is not heating then you need to check a few things.

First disconnect the power to the unit. Then you must check the heating element and the limits which are mounted on the heating box.
Remove one lead from the element and check for continuity thru the element. If you have continuity then check the limit by measuring for continuity, again you must remove one of the leads. This should solve your problem
