Diagnostic Message: Ec ...

I have no idea what has happened, but here is what I have been able to figure out so far. I have a Jewel Plus series spa (Topaz I think). As far as I know, outside of checking on it once or twice, it was pretty much left alone all of this last winter. This winter was extremely cold at times, somewhere in the realm of -20F. When I checked on the spa once it was warmer, nearly all the water was gone.

I had hoped the water had somehow evaporated out when one of the cold snaps hit. However, after cleaning in out today and filling it back up with water, there appear to be several issues with it. There is a click when I turn the blowers on, but nothing happens. When I try the jets, the spa makes a whirring sound at least similar to when they are working correctly, but nothing more happens. I have not opened up the side panel yet, but the spa appears to be leaking (the cement around the spa is wet now). Finally, I am getting a diagnostic message on the control panel that reads "Ec", which is not on the diagnostic message list in the manual.

My guess is that something went wrong during the winter and one of the hoses froze. But, if it was just a leaking hose, would that cause all the other issues? Does anyone know what "Ec" means?

Thanks.

Press the temp button, and then press the light button, that will change the mode of the tub.

I have a qca jewel spa the heater only runs when one or both of the pumps are running ? Any suggestions thanks

I would assume this is by design. If water were not flowing through the heater it would constantly cycle and mineral deposit would accumulate on the heating elements much faster and shorten their lifespan.

OH error QCA spa High jets work and heat

OH is the overheat code.

Your spa temperature is set above 108, or your thermostat is faulty & not reading correctly.

How do you winterize a hot tub? QCA Jewel Model SUV M7

this is taken right from a jewel series QCA hot tub manual.....Winterizing
In very cold weather you may not want to venture outside to use your spa. In this case, you may move it to a heated area, or leave it as is until the weather warms. If you do leave the spa unused for a long period of time in severely cold weather, you should winterize the spa to avoid accidental freezing due to a power or equipment failure.. Follow these easy steps: Turn power to the spa OFF. Drain the spa. Use a wet vac to **** or blow out the air injectors, water jets and water suction fittings. Add 1-3 gallons of RV antifreeze, depending on the size of the spa, to all the air injectors, water jets, suction drains, and filter. Caution: Any lines not receiving adequate antifreeze are subject to freeze damage!

How do i drain a jewel plus spa,

Most of this manufatcturers spas have a 3/4" drain valve tucked in between the control pak and the pump. If your does not have this, a sump pump connected to a hose is the best , fastest way to drain a spa. My favorite king is "little giant" which is sold at any lowes or home depot if your in america. If not, any local hardware store should stock these. Cost in USA is about $35

reset the filter timer on the unit probably set at max since being powered up [replugged in ] 6hrs out of 12hrs every 12 hrs if u have manual will explain how to set temp and filter run time if no manual can notify company and they can advise --i believe on yours that if u hold down the light button for a few seconds it will flash a number and u can use up and down adjustment arrows to reset time usually set at 1

My jets on my topaz II won't shut off

maybe your filtration cycle is set to high.
check with your instruction manual on how to bring filtration cycle up and if showing FIL 8 or Fil C then this is the reason.
Is the spa up to temp? if not then spa is running all the time to try and heat.....
if not then may have a circuit board error or top side controller
