Question about Televison & Video
I have a 25" Sony trinitron and all of a sudden I have a horizontal color line across the screen...have sound .This is on Video 1. What is so very strange when we use our DVD player it will show half a screen with sound. It all started last evening when I was putting the audio and video cable in the back of the tv. I have to tilt it forward to me a little to be able to place the cables in properly. I was doing this and all of a sudden the screen appeared with only a colored horizontal line.It will show a half screen with sound for all the regular tv channels.Has me baffled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Weaver
Most likely a bad Vertical IC or bad connections on the vertical IC. don't continue trying it on. If you have a bad connection it could do more damage. You also could damage the CRT ( picture tube ). If you remove the cover and look at the bottom side of the PC bord with a good magnifiing glass you may see what looks like rings around the leads comming from the Vertical IC. The Vertical IC is mounted on a heat sink usually towards the front of the set looking from back. If you do see the rings around the leads try reheating with a solder iron. If this dosen't fix you most likely need a new IC.
