It is not showing up in XP yet because it has to be partitioned and formatted first. You can see it in disk management and partition it from there, then format it.

HP xw 4400 will not recognize my hard drive when trying to install OS Windows XP Prof.

Windows XP had a hard time recognizing hard drives larger than 127 GB. The best solution is to install Windows XP with service pack 2 or 3 already slipstreamed. Otherwise, you are going to have to partition your hard drive with at least 1 partition of 127 GB or smaller.

I hear noise coming from the back vents and I think it might be the processor fan. Is there a way to fix/clean it so that noise goes away and do I have to open it from the bottom? This is for Qosmio G25.

You probably need to replace the cooling fan, but you can try cleaning it out first. Get a can of compressed air or use an air compressor to spray pressurized air into the vent to spray dust out. If this doesn't work, you probably need to replace the fan. I actually found a guide for opening up the Qosmio G25 and replacing or cleaning the cooling fan. Check it out:

I want to upgrade my Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513 to windows 7, but I understand that some of the programs will not function properly due to the old hard drive. Is this true or is the company I called for...

Uhm. I am typing this from a Qosmio G25-AV513... Using Windows 7.. With the original Hard drive.. Someone is lying to you. Lemme guess.. Best Buy?? Anyway.. It wasn't a totally straightforward upgrade.. You will need a little computer knowledge (finding drivers, ETC.) And since this computer came with a RAID setup, you will need to download the windows 7 raid drivers, and put them on a thumb drive BEOFRE you start installing, because when you get to the install screen it won't find a hard drive, you have to put the thumb drive in and click "Load Drivers", then load the RAID driver and it will work.. Drivers are kind of a pain to find since Toshiba didn't update their website with Vista or 7 drivers.. Thanks Toshiba. If you need help, e-mail me. P2000Canaro@gmail.com. Good luck!

I need Qosmio G25 AV513 Hard Drive replacement. Can you suggest source?

I would suggest getting your drive specs from t he company and then just ordering one from Egghead or Tigerdirect onlline.

If you want a local provider a Best Buy or a Microcenter would do.

Be sure to save all the mounting parts off the old drive! You will need them for the new one.

RAID requires 2 or more individual hard disk drives. You cannot create a RAID using only 1 drive.

Unable to boot from HDD1 position or recreate RAID1.

you need to go into your bios and tell it to boot from the other hard drive make sure you plugged in the right wire to power it it should be the same as one used for the hard drive that works and plug it in tightly.

Spilled Water on Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513

If you are pretty good at computers then you can open up the computer and see just how bad the damage is. You may need to replace the keyboard, or a few parts of he mother board. If it was water I think you would have more of a chance, but the sugar will definitely cause problems if it hit any circuit boards. Your best bet is to take out your hard drive, make it an external hard drive and get a new computer.

Qosmio g25-av513 disassembly

Hi Paul have a g25-av513. First disconnect and remove both hard drives and the battery. In the battery compartment there is a small screw you need to remove and in the hard drive 2 bay there are 2 f8 screws that need to be removed as well. In all there should be 17 screws that need to be removed before you can pop the back cover off. When removing pay close attention to the connectors attached to the underside of the back cover. be careful not to pull to hard or you may tear the connectors which are very thin wires. First you have to remove all the screws on the underside of the laptop. The screws are marked f8's and f16's the longer ones are the f16's of course. I have taken mine apart several times already due to a boot up shut down issue which I believe is related to the modem board underneath hard drive 2. It seems that when ever I disconnect and reconnect this board my power shut down issue disappears. If it happens again I'm going to remove i all together and see if that takes care of my problem.
