Question about HP Pavillion a818n Desktop PC (Refurb) Pentium 515(2.93Ghz) 512MB 160GB (PS453AAR)
I have HP 1020n PC with m.b PTGD-LA, intel P4, 512 ddr ram and 200 gig sata hard drive. When I turn on the PC, monitor shows no display. My monitor is working fine with other PCs. My hard drive working fine with other PCs. I have to check Mother Board, RAM and processor. Which one should i try replacing? It do not give single beep or sound. Fans, CD drives etc working fine, no problem with PSU
Can anybody guide me?
First thing is do you have a beep when the system boots? Sounds like you may have a BIOS issue I would start there........your RAM and processor are more than likely NOT the problem

Tips for a great answer:
Feb 28, 2012 | HP Compaq Presario SR5210NX Desktop PC...
you should not think about replacing the motherboard until you have exhaused all of the troubleshooting on your computer
Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers also
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
