Yes it is normal, just as soon as you turn on the machine keep on holding down the control key and tapping f11, do not wait for any display on the screen. It will definitely resolve the problem but if accidently you have deleted the partition which is the utility partition you will not be able to perform the PC restore then only Operating System reinstallation will take place only with the help of the CD's provided by the manufacturer

You should try pressing F12 alone to get to the boot options menu, there you can select to boot from your restore cd.

I have a dell involve laptop while i was trying to set back to factory specks i got locked out and it wont let me access any thing with out my administrator password and i don't no it what can i do to save...

No laptop is trashed when a password is lost. It just takes a little time to find out how to get into the system. I'll assume it is running XP Home that was originally installed on it from the specs I saw when researching. I'll also assume the password is not the one necessary to get into the BIOS CMOS setup- that one can normally be cleared by removing the CMOS battery and letting it set for a few hours or longer so the information is lost. The OS password can be cleared by making a bootable disk for that purpose. I have a Unix CD program that I made from information I downloaded from the Internet. You can do the same if you have access to a CD burner on another computer, say a friend's or one at work. I can get you the program's name if that's the route you want to take.

Reset dell celeron pc to factory settings

To do this you will need the restore cd or os cd that came with it. Put it in the pc and reboot. Press f12 on dell splash screen and choose boot from cd. Just follow the prompts from there. If you do jot have any cds you can use any cd that has identical os on it to restore to factory except you will jot get dell software that comes from factory. Also keep in mind that any of these steps will delete all data from your hard drive so make sure it is backed up.

1501 inspiron boots up, but screen is black

Try this, hook up your LP to a diftrent monitor, using the "Blue conextion cable", if you can see windows opening up, it's in you Hardware. If not then it might be in your software, try reformatting it, but use the reformat as as last resort only. Doing the reformat you will lose ALL data. If it opens and you see it on a dirrent monitor then it time to replace your LP monito.

Installed a rangeplus adapter on dell 1000 inspiron xp sp3 home

See if you can go into safe mode by hitting the F8 key right after the dell splash screen and right before the XP splash screen comes up. If you can get into safe mode try to uninstall the rangeplus adapter and try reinstalling again after rebooting the system normally.

Dell Inspiron 1501 won't boot

The initial Dell Screen you see at the begining is your BIOS access. Push F12 repeatedly when you see this screen and it will take you into a system restore mode. It will let you boot from CD first (which your PC is not set up for). You should be able to start the CD fine from there.

Reset to factory settings

If the system has the original Dell image, then just after the Dell Bios splash screen should be a black screen with w blue bar at the top with www.dell.com at the top.

At that screen press CTRL + F11 to initiate the PC Restore program.
