Lexmark x4270 fax machine receives faxes but won't feed paper
Fax will not take in paper to send or copy . I CHECKED AND FROM WHAT i can see the gears that make the roller feed the paper are not meshing or engageing the the gears beneath them, Is there a drive belt or a possible broken gear that i can't see causing the problem? thanks Frank

Try cleaning the rollers in X4270 printer. You may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.
1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall. Open the control panel. 2. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One. 3. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens. 4. Reinstall the white roller. 5. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.
Next, try to make a standalone copy and let us know the results.

you have an obstruction either a piece of paper between the rolllers or the secondary feed rollers are not turning.... open the machine and follow the feed path ...take a piece of paper and manually feed the paper with the machine in the off position look at the feed rollers then the secondary rollers( usually two small rods with rubber sleeves kissing each other ...if you can look at the sides on the machine( inside the cover) see if the gears ( usually white ) can turn or mesh correctly... if you do not see any obstruction then these rollers are not turning when they are supposed to when you press the print button. 90 percent of these problems are paper jams if no jam something is not activating the feed rollers
Scan platform in english is Were you shove the stuff to send ;) ie dirty feed roller, paper detect switch stuck or fragments of paper in original feeding paper path area or feeding stuff too thick or stiff, or if multi document issue it is the pad or roller that sits under the main feed roller...al this is nothiong to do with paper tray full of blanks it is the original feeler area on top..
Same error should occur doing local copy, check feed section/roller
When you hear the fax signal press the start button on your machine. If this does not work attempt to just make a copy of a document without sending to test the document feeder - help the document by gently pushing the document into the machine when it should be feeding. If you can feel the machine trying to grab it but it doesn't have enough strentgh or it will feed with your help then the feed rollers are probably dirty and you may be able to open up the top cover and clean the rubber rollers with alcohol or degreaser. If the feed rollers do not even turn when trying to make a copy then you may have a motor, belt or clutch problem. If it copies well but will not send, then you will probably have a modem or fax lead problem. Try a new fax lead.
Yes,but the most imported part for dubble feeding is the sepatation pad, this white pad is on the lower part of the docfeeder and work with the feed rollers, fist make sure that pad is clean before you replace the rollers, and then replace the pad.
as the rollers move with the help of the side gears .which r made up of plastic and that gears r worn out or got cracked as due to this it pulls the paper but the gears are cracked so it does not pulls the paper further and it hangs in between.as to resove this the gears needs to be cleaned and checked if the problem not solved the gears neeeds to be replaced.
2 different problems here. 1st is with document feed and 2 is with paper feed.
1st prob seems to be with the paper feed roller not meshing at the gear. Probably a broken piece on the lower document tray assembly. No real fix for this unless you can strip it out and haywire it.
2nd prob is probably a poorly meshing drum unit. Examine the gear teeth on both the drum and the machine. As you have replaced the drum already (presumably with a brand new one) You might possibly find a missing or badly worn tooth on the messhing gear in the machine.
