Question about Packard Bell iMedia 6826 (P481000502) PC Desktop

2 Answers

Hi Guys I have a packard bell istart 1359, memory max is 2048mb and I currently have 512mb installed. I purchased 2 x 1gb ddr2 pc2-5300 -cl=5 -unbuffered -non ecc ddr2 - 667-1.8v -128 meg from crutial. I have tried to install these in various combinations : one by one in one slot, also together with the original ram but I cannot get the pc to start up I get a beep but no windows and won't startup. I have tried to go on packard bell website to get bios upgrade, but no support from them. don't know if the PC is considered old though only bought in 2007. someone suggested I try clearing the cmos but I'm not sure what to do. can you help? I was also told to try using double sided ram.

I would call Crutial to make sure that they sent the correct memory modules for your pc. If they say that they did then tell them the problem that you are having to see if they have any ideas.

Do you have 2 memory slots or 4 memory slots ?

Usually memory pairs must be matched pairs, so I'm guessing that you will need to use only the 2 new modules and not the old one.

I went to crucial for my memory upgrade the same thing happened you get a beeping noise when uve inserted them the reason for this is because they arent the right mem cards and crucial dont supply the memory cards for the packard bell istart 1359 in the end i got a refund and went to orca instead they work perfect now hope this is helpful :)

Some systems require ECC it may be as simple as obtaining ECC Ram......u can try checking the memory that cam with it to see whether it is buffered and ECC if it is you will have to obtain same type of RAM

How much ram can it hold and where do I get the ram. There are 2 slots. The laptop is fine just very limited and slow because of memory. Lincoln

512MB(min)

2048MB (max)

2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB or 2048MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM, dualchannel

support requires two memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed

I usually go to Tigerdirect to get my customers parts.

Here is the site and the type of ram you need.

Toshiba satellite A100 slot 2 doesn´t work. A

Is memory matched (DDR2 667)

Have you put original mem in slot 2

Download / install CPU-Z with both modules in and run program to see if it shows.

If all above is correct may be damaged mobo.

This is for your laptop from vendors site.

Memory5
• Configured with 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 slot occupied and 1 available)
• 512MB(min)/2048MB (max), 2 memory slots using 256MB, 512MB or 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM.

How much the memory on compaq v3000z can be increased and what type ddr, ddr2 or ddr3? currently it has 256.

Compaq Presario V V3000 Specification Memory Type: DDR2 SODIMM 200pin DDR SODIMM:
DDR, double data rate is a type of SDRAM in which data is sent on both the rising and falling edges of clock cycles in a data burst. It is usually referred to as DDR as opposed to DDR SDRAM.
SODIMM, small outline dual inline memory module. Smaller and thinner than standard DIMMs, SODIMMs are typically used in laptop computers.
Memory Speed: PC2-4200, PC2-5300 Chipset: Intel 945GM Chipset :
A group of chips that together make up a complete computer processing unit, usually on one circuit board (the motherboard). It may include the main central processor, graphics processors, secondary cache memory, and input-output controllers. Memory is one component controlled by the chipset. Standard Memory: 512MB Removable Memory Slot(s): 2 Max. Memory Per System: 2048MB (2GB) Max. Memory Per Slot: 2048MB (2GB) Dual Channel Memory Support: Supported Dual Channel :
A development in motherboard and chipset design that allows for increased bandwidth transfer when using two or more memory modules in separate transfer channels. These separate channels allow each module access to the memory controller, increasing throughput bandwidth. It is a good idea to use matched pairs of modules to ensure the best compatibility for dual channel operation. Tri-Channel Memory Support: Not Support Tri-Channel :
A development in motherboard and chipset design that allows for increased bandwidth transfer when using three or more memory modules in separate transfer channels. These separate channels allow each module access to the memory controller, increasing throughput bandwidth. It is a good idea to use matched three modules to ensure the best compatibility for tri-channel operation. Install Memory in Pairs: Not Required Install in Pairs :
Memory modules must be installed in pairs of matched memory size. This means that if you purchased your computer with 128 MB of memory installed and you want to add another 512 MB of memory, you must remove the two continuity modules and replace them with two 256-MB memory modules.

Suitable psu for packard bell istart 1359

Unfortunately, no. See this link for a picture of your supply: http://www.cwc-group.com/fspgrfsposu2.html . It's considerably longer and narrower than a standard ATC power supply. This is typical of Packard Bell, e-Machines and many others.

Hope this helps!
