I have a 50" plasma, model # R5012 that will not turn on now. It worked fine last night, but nothing today. I checked for power and it is getting power. It is only 3 years old. What's up with that. I have lost my manual, which would make no difference anyway. Is there a fuse or something I should look for?

Hi

It is always recommended not to open your tv as it has high voltages even when its switched off. However if you want to locate the fuse you need to open up the back cover of the tv set and check the fuse that is close to where the power cord comes into the tv set, check that fuse is good or not.

Please check this manual if you still want to get it done yourself.

    Hi

Unfortunately you now need to get the TV serviced as this would happen due to loosening of solder joints. Please check the information above.

Please do accept this solution and revert for any clarifications.

Usually in Plasma sets the first thing that has been going out in them is called the Y-sustain main. This is a rather large module on the left side of the set ( from the rear ) . It is a rather easy part to replace, however, technically that's not the end of it. You must re-check your Vs and Va supply voltages that are derived from the power supply. Then check your Vset-up and Vset-down waveforms with a scope. All these procedures are necessary for longevity of the module. Sometimes they have been known to wipe out the Y-drive boards also. I wish I could give you better news but I can only give you the truth, I have repaired so many with the same symptoms you have, regardless of the make- they all fail sooner or later so don't feel bad or un-lucky. Your best bet is to have a reputable service co. diagnose it. Depending on the make and parts suppliers the cost can run $250-400.

There is no power at all. Last night the TV kept switching itself back on after being switched off. Now today nothing.

Unplug the tv for at least a minute and try again. or you may have lost your power supply on the tv, usually just a cap gets fried and can be fixed fairly easily with some soldering experience.

They didn't fix the issue this last time. The most common failure in these models is the upper and lower Y buffer boards. There are updated versions and both must be replaced as a pair. The part numbers are as follows: BN96-03361A for upper Y board and BN96-03362A for the lower Y board. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks...

Plasma screen not coming on at all

IF it is not an adaptor-powered screen, try to exchange the tripol-power cord and try again.
Else you may have to rely on warranty/ return it to where you purchased it or ask electronics dealer for support.
If adaptor powered, buying a new one should be the last option, else you may end up with a broke monitor and two working adaptors!

Good luck

Tv was working fine yesterday. got up today and nothing.

Dear,

can u do repairing or have you ever troubleshoot the issue by yourself.
if yes, then open the cover and check the continuety of the power cable because it can be the damage cable. if all of then check the fuse inside the circuit board where the main power cord goes. the must be a glass fuse. Check is it in working condition means having continuty too.
if this component is ok then u have to check the other circuitry.
