Question about D-Link DI 514 Wireless Router (DI-514)

1 Answer

Ssh remote computer access

Dear Sir,
I have a DLink DI-514. I have tried to use SSH protocol to have access to a remote computer from the University, but I have got a timeout message. The SSH server address is replying the PING requests. Is it a configuration in DI-514 router, in order to forwarding this kind of requests?

Thank you in advance,
Flavio

It is possible to limit outgoing connections, but generally a firewall is used to limit connections being initiated from the outside (incoming connection attempts). Check the settings in your router to ensure that it isn't limiting outgoing connection attempts, but it sounds more like a permissions issue on the server your are trying to connect to.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

What software should I use to bypass my university internet restrictions?

If the games are in fact, "yours" then you can configure your game server to publish on the normal HTTP port (80). Then, you will have no trouble at all.

I hope this is helpful,

I made a change in the firewall and now have locked myself out. is there a way to access the sg565 straight from the unit to a pc without using the url

Hi,
yes that device uses a protocol called SSH which is a command line based interface.
from a windows machine I would recommend using "Putty" as an SSH program to work with(make sure to select SSH as the default is telnet under the host name which will be its IP in this case).
once you connect to the device and sign in you can type"enableweb"
and it will reset all ithe interfaces to allow webaccess again.
other than that a hard reset would work as well.

GL
hope this helps

SecureCRT - Version 6.2.2 (build 263) [LOCAL] : SSH2Core version 6.2.0.263 [LOCAL] : Connecting to 10.252.105.6:22 ... [LOCAL] : Changing state from STATE_NOT_CONNECTED to STATE_EXPECT_KEX_INIT...

This log shows you are connecting to a Cisco router running SSH protocol version 1, but you have set your SecureCRT to require using SSH version 2.

You either need to either

Set the SecureCRT software to allow connections using SSH version 1

or

upgrade your Cisco device to support SSH version 2.

Sun V60 box cannot be accessed remotely. os is Linux

What method are you using to try to access it? If you are trying to use SSH or Telnet, you will need an SSH or Telnet daemon running on the server. If you are trying to access it from a computer that is not on the same subnet, you will need to forward the Telnet or SSH ports through your router.

My icons arent showing up after i ssh

Assuming that you are using the term "SSH" correctly:
SSH is a protocol used to remotely access the command line for a remote machine, usually linux.
SSH provides no direct way to share a desktop or any other graphical interface.
However, with a lot of configuration, it may be possible to use it to form a secure link by which you can open a VNC connection, which does share the graphical environment.

I have some problems with SSH, here the info that i could get from the appliance: SA-Firewall# Device ssh opened successfully. SSH0: SSH client: IP = '172.17.200.32' interface # = 2 SSH: host key...

What version of software are you running? I have noticed issue with ssh on version 8.2(3) and below.

You can try to remove all ssh access and then add it back. Also you can try zeroizing and regenerating the crypto key.

How to connect to my PIX 501 and use Windows Remote Desktop?

Here's a real simple problem to your remote access problems.
Go to: http://www.logmein.com
Sign up for a free acct, download/install their free software on your Server.
Now go over to your laptop, login to your new logmein acct.
In the next page, you'll see your Server listed. Click on it - follow instructions to connect.
This will tunnel through whatever stuff you have on your network!
Trust me - esp. in your scenario, this is *by far* the *simplest remote connect you'll ever perform! And it just .... works! Everytime.

Remote desktop

Here is a short list of applications that can be used.
1) VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a remote display system which allows the user to view the desktop of a remote machine anywhere on the internet. It can also be directed through SSH for security.
Basically you install VNC server on the server and install client on your local PC. Setup is extremely easy and server is very stable. On client side, you can set the resolution and connect to IP of VNC server. It can be a bit slow compared to Windows remote desktop and also has the tendency to take more time refreshing over low-bandwidth links. All in all VNC is an amazing piece of free software that gets the job done.
There is RealVNC , TightVNC and UltraVNC. Each has it’s advantages and disadvantages. Most popular one is RealVNC but if you’re upto it, experiment with all three and choose the one that works for you best. By default, communication between client and server is in clear text on port 5900. However, you can easily route all traffic via SSH tunnel. Here is a quick way of setting it up if you have access to command line shell:
ssh -ND 5900 <user>@remote.server.com
When you get prompted, enter your password. Pop open VNC client and connect to ‘localhost’. This’ll route your connection to VNC server on remote machine.
You can download VNC from:
  1. http://www.realvnc.com/download.html
  2. http://www.tightvnc.com/download.html
  3. http://www.uvnc.com/
2) Then there is FreeNX. FreeNX is a system that allows you to access your desktop from another machine over the internet. You can use this to login graphically to your desktop from a remote location. One example of its use would be to have a FreeNX server set up on your home computer, and graphically logging in to the home computer from your work computer, using a FreeNX client. It provides near local speed application responsiveness over high latency, low bandwidth links.
FreeNX can be configured to run via SSH without any tunneling. It binds to your existing SSH install. Instead of guiding you through the installation of FreeNX in this article, you can visit the following URLs that’ll guide you through the installation on Ubuntu:
  1. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX
  2. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=97277&highlight=freenx
  3. http://freenx.berlios.de/ (FreeNX homepage)
3) The third free application is 2X Terminal Server for Linux. 2X TerminalServer for Linux is an Open Source project, licensed under the GPL and is free of charge. As far as performance goes, NoMachine’s technology is on par with Windows’ own Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) suite, better than VNC. Both X2 and FreeNX is based on NoMachine technology.
Here are some quick links if you’re interested in using this software:
  1. Download at http://www.2x.com/terminalserver/download.htm
  2. Forum is at http://www.2x.com/forums
4) The last but not least at all is XDMCP. The X Display Manager Control Protocol uses UDP port 177. Compared to the list above, it’s not as easy to setup for remote desktop but it’s the original way of doing this on Linux. You can get setup instructions and other tips in the following URL:
  1. http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/XDMCP-HOWTO/intro.html
In conclusion, there are many commercial products that are available as well. But this article is only based on open source products that can be freely used with no strings attached.

Cisco asa5505 problem

You seem to have the last resort (o.o.o.o) set to VLAN1 which is set as an inside interface.
Is VLAN1 connected to the outside router or internet backbone?
If not, change the last resort to the outside Ethernet port.
