    You say you have "drives"?
Depending on the age of the computer, you may have to install the SATA drivers as you reinstall the O/S. SATA drives are not natively supported on some older motherboards.
Also, in Dell computers, you have to enable the SATA drives in the BIOS settings.
Just what is it that you did and what happened?

Have you checked your HDD jumper? Make sure it's in the Master position. You can also use the Cable Select setting. For cable select, you need to go to the Bios and make sure that you select your desired HDD as the master drive for boot up sequence.

Old hard drive died so now have a western digital wd5000aakx. have pins 5&6 jumpered but cannot instal windows xp as no drive is recognised even after loading the sata drivers that camw with the...

The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Asus P5KPL SE & Sata, Bios "Not Detected Problem"..

The Asus bios won't show SATA devices.
However if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (or newer operating system then the devices should be detected. If this is not happening then enter the bios -- Storage Configuration -- Configuration Enhanced and set the IDE devices to compatible. This allows all drives to be "seen" and you should then be able to load an OS.

Intel D945GCCR SATA driver problem.

You shouldn't need the drivers till after the OS is installed.....just go into BIOS and check to see what placement it is in.....or boot up the windows XP CD and select it as the drive to reformat and install XP on. In Bios you can select which drive you want to boot. i.e. IDE/SATA it should have a model number of the one you have selected to boot just make sure it matches the modle number of the drive and you good.

Windows XP does not have built in SATA drivers. You will need to download the XP drivers from Western Digital's website and install before the computer will allow you to format and use your new drive. Hope this helps.

Installing new sata drive in HP pc

a clean xp installation does not recognize sata drives at all. you can either use nlite to build a custom install cd, press f6 during setup to load additional drivers, try to change your sata mode from native to compatible in your bios or use your restore cds.

HOW TO CHANGE 320GB SATA HDD TO 500GB SATA

Yes. The case doesn't care what size the drive is. The computer is just asking for the USB driver for the case. Check the WD site for the driver for the model of MyBook that you have. That should cover it.
