My laptop wont play sound (by 4 users)

when i try to do anything with sound it comes up with a message (cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding.) the i clicked on details and this is what i got (windows media player error center) (THERE IS NO SOUND CARD) (you either do not have a sound card installed on your computer or it is not functioning properly. if you dont have sound card installed , you must install one before you can listen to audio in a digital media file. if yu do have a sound card installed, refer to its documentation to troubleshoot the problem)

i went to system in control panel and checked out the hardware then device manager. it had a !on AUDIO DEVICE but there was two like that aqnd there was also a ! on unknown device in the sound, video and game controllers. when i clicked on the !audio device it said (the drivers for this device are not installed.[code 28] you can install the drive on the computer bu t i cant get internet to download the driver so i want to download it on my regular pc to put it on my memory card and then put it on my laptop
if u can hel me that would be great but if it is more than downloading a couple drivers like having to buy a sound card than ill have to live with it like that. but i really hope you can help me because i really like listening to music.
