restart computer and keep tapping F8 when the black screen comes up with options choose start windows in VGA mode. You may have a higher resolution set that the monitor is not capable of supporting.

Did you test the power supply? Did you reset the board bios by removing the motherboard battery with the power supply unplugged?

Take it out and look at the number on it!

Check the disk space of the system drive which should have more than the paging size configured. Also check the paging size configured, it should be max 1.5 to 2 times of your physical RAM installed.
eg: if 1GB physical RAM installed on your system, then configure paging size will be 1536-2048.

Also delete the temp and temporary internet files from your profile will solve your problem.

Look for the network or the ethernet port on the back of the desktop.

recommended hardware requirements for an xp install is:
300mhz processor, 1.5 GB partition on a 2Gigabite hard drive, 512 Mb RAM as well as a CD ROM or a flash drive containing the install files. if your system meets these requirements, you should be able to install with no problem. please rate me if this helps. thanks and good luck!

com 3 does exist but it cannot be used at the same time as com 4, i would try and set it to com port 2, but the fastest way to fix it would probably be to uninstall it (right click on it in device manager and select remove) and then use the add hardware wizard to set it up. (windows should then configure it automatically.)
