Re: xplod amp

You have 3 power connection, +12v goes directly to your vechile's battery (make sure this is fused) REM connects to your head unit which tells the amp when to turn on and off (usually very thin wire, comnpared to the gnd and +12) Te gnd you already know where it goes. Then connect your sub to + and - speaker out put. If you run this bridged it will increase your output, must be 2 channel to bridge to 1 channel or a 4 channel bridged to 2 channels. Hope this helps.

There's a flashing green and red light when my car is on and the sub attached to the amp is making a heartbeat like noise when the light goes green and then the light goes red right away. everything is...

Check the wires for short circuiting at the car body or speaker wires. Triple check really everything.
Make sure the connectors are 100% connected to the wires. There maybe some resitance if the amp isn't getting enough power from the battery.

I just got a sony xplod 1000 watt amp i got everything hooked up and when i turned the key the power light chaned from green to red. i check over the amp again and again, i cant find any thing wrong........

Try disconecting all speakers from the amp, turn it on after and if it stays on red it sounds like it had kicked the bucket. if it stays green start from their and check all of your wires for shorts (speaker wires) again. hope this helps...

Sony Xplod Amplifier Problem

First make sure you are using at least a 12 guage speaker wire for sub connections. Second make sure you have plenty of breathing room in your mounting position, these things need air badly. Third of all, Xplods are not very friendly if they are cranked all the way up on your dB boost knob. Only crank it about 3/4 of the way up, then use your equalizer settings to tweak the thump.

How do i intall my amp?

first you need to run a power cable for the battery to where ever you are going to place the amp DO NOT hook the cable to the battery until the very last just wire it to the amp for you will want to ground your amp hook the ground wire to the amp and the other end to a solid piece of metal in the car this is very important if you don't get good metal on metal contact you'll blow a fuse. If you can hide it well strip back a bit of carpeting and use sand paper to remove all paint from the metal and drill a hole for a screw. once that is finished you will need to run a remote wire from the amp to the car stereo usually these are the blue wire on the harness in the dash. once that is hooked up run the rca cables (reds and whites) plug in to amp and then in to back of cd player. once this is all hooked up and fully secure hook the power cable to the battery make good contact and if everything is grounded right you should get the lights on in the amp. Next step hook up the speakers run speaker wire from the amp to your speakers make sure negative goes to negative and positive to positive or you'll get clipping and it will sound like ****. that's pretty much the jist of it. if you have any questions let me know.

How to measure watts

You need a Volt Meter and an Ohm Meter. P = VI & I = V/r, so Power = (Volt^2)/Ohms .

You can get the ohms by hooking them up to the subwoofer input wires, and you get the volts by hooking up to the amp output terminals/wires. Although, amps will put out different voltages for different frequences, this should give you ballpark estimates.

Sony xm1652z amp problems

it sounds like you have the high lvl inputs on the amp hooked up instead of the rca's. this will cause the boominess for a few seconds when the amp is on and right when you turn it off

Thermal light won't turn off...

Check your speaker load ESPECILLY if you are bridging your speakers. Sounds like you may have a very low ohms load and it is frying your amps. Do this BEFORE you hook up another amp. If you are using dual voice coil speakers it is very easy to get the impedence (ohms) wrong in your hook up. If unbridged then a 4 ohm load per channel is good. If you are bridged, then an 8 ohm load is best. When you combine speakers, that is when most people get in trouble. Good luck.
