The laser may have failed. There is no way to tell without special equipment.

SOURCE: music format

It's .wav format. However if you burn your MP3s as an audio disc (not an MP3 disc) with a program like Nero or Roxio Easy DVD Suite, then it will automatically convert them to .wav and burn them to CD and it will work with your CD player straight off.

SOURCE: CD Player not playing any audio CDs

The laser is damaged or dirty. Try gently swabbing the lens with rubbing alcohol and drying with canned air. If this fails the laser is damaged and unrepairable.

SOURCE: CD player not turning

The laser is damaged/worn out. It would be cheaper to purchase a whole new unit, instead of repairing that one.

SOURCE: Hi. I have owned my Durabrand Personal CD Player

Most likely the trouble is that the laser has just worn out and can't read discs any longer. The power drops with age and use, and sooner or later this happens to any CD player. The low cost of these personal CD players makes them uneconomical to repair.

My BOSESound Wave reads my CD's but then says they are unplayable. How to fix?

The CD unit has two optics, a tracking laser and a reading laser. It sounds like tracking it working, but reading isn't. Try an optics cleaning disc. It has gentle brushes to clean the dust off. You can also get them at Walmart.

My Nx-385 will not play. When I put in a disc the player attempts to read then the display screen shows the word disc. What should I do?

It sounds like there is a problem with the Laser not picking up the CD.

If you've tried a Lens Cleaning Disc or Cleaned the Lens directly with a QTip and Lens Cleaning Fluid then the Laser has failed and wound not be cost effective to replace.

My walkman skips and stutters constantly. Its getting worse. The same cd is fine in the car player.

It could be that the lens needs cleaning. Try a CD Lens Cleaner like this. They can be found at most major grocery stores and supermarkets.

When trying to play an audio cd ER appears on the screen model # 916 Thank you

Hello

The error code you are receiving is either due to a dirty laser lens, or a burnt out lens.

You can try to resolve the problem by cleaning the head of the laser lens using a ear bud with some surgical spirits, or you can try a laser lens cleaning CD.

If none of the above works, the laser lens itself is probably burnt out.

Please fell free to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

Will not read any CD's audio mp3 or atrac

In that case either the lens is covered in dust (clean it) or the laser is dead - unfixable, the player is dead.

My girls princess disney cd player keeps saying that there is no cd in the player. I have no idea what's wrong with it.

the laser lens is most likely dirty, buy a cleaning disk, or use a microfiber cloth or eyeglasses cleaning cloth and gently wipe the lens in one direction to clean it. the lens will look like a small round clear piece of glass near the motor that spins the cd, if this doesnt work, then the laser has quit working

My staton cd play reads no disk

try using a cleaning disk, but ive found that those dont work that well, find the laser lens "near the motor that spins the cd" and use a micro fiber cloth, or eyeglasses cleaning cloth and gently wipe the lens in one direction, you can use rubbing alcohol on the cloth if you like, just blow on the lens to make sure its complely dry. if that does not work, then the laser may be burnt out.

It keeps reading no-disc no matter what kind one puts in it, whats up?

Your lens could be dirty, or the motor that controls the lens may be broken, or come unhinged from the track. If you can find a way to play it while it's open (push down on the sensor button that the lid pushes on with a small screwdriver) turn it on with a CD while it's open, and watch to see if the laser moves. Make sure the laser itself never faces your eyes directly.
If the laser moves, clean it up with a soft cloth that's means for lenses.

Are you using the car adapter or batteries? Are the batteries good? Are the CD's clean? Have you tried the CD's in another player? Do they work there? Maybe the lens on the laser needs cleaned.
