Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Distorted sound. My computer (Dell Dim. 4100) suddenly produces very distorted sound thru speakers. I tried replacing the speakers and the problem is still there, so obviously it's not the speakers but a connection or driver or sound card. I don't know anything about the internal workings of a computer. The sound system soft ware is Santa Cruz (Turtle Beach) and usually sounds great. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled that. Any suggestions? Lidna

You can try shutting off Audio Hardware Acceleration.

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Advanced (Under Speaker Settings) > Performance.

Why is audio distorted, even after updating and replacing drivers?

Annonymous,
Try testing the audio through headphones to see if the sound is still distorted. If so, try reinstall the chipset drivers and then the Audio driver again.

Marshall MB4410, with low volume gives no real volume,

Guitar amps have preamp sections (think unpowered audio mixer) and power amp sections (Crown rack-mount amp). An excellent way to isolate audio problems if amp is still producing audio is to check the preamp out (line out). Preamp output distorted = preamp failure. Connect MP3 player to "Power Amp In"...sound distorted = power amp failure. In your case the latter is the case as your "line out" is clean. Also test each speaker for clear sound as speaker cone damage from being overpowered is fairly common. At 300w. I'll assume the failure was not from cranking the volume to loud but a shorted speaker or speaker wiring could zap the power amp in an instant.

How to repair dell speakers

venkyonly4ru,
Depending on the problem. If your speakers are distorted you can try reinstalling the sound card drivers. If the speakers are defective you would have to replace them. Dell does not have any instructions on repairing speakers.

Peavey speakers making no sound

Try connecting them to another amplifier...you can use the speaker output of a guitar amp as a quick test. If the amp (and mixer) check OK, it sounds like you are about to become good friends with your local speaker reconing shop.

Remember...Distorted Audio Can Kill Speakers even at low volumes. It happens because sine waves become square waves. Google it for additional information.

Is there any system to which you can connect your BOSE *and* have it work?
If not, then check that the BOSE is getting electrical power into it.

My Logitech computer speakers are playing distorted sound. Also notice that the green power light is dim and wavering.

Could be the outlet, or the power strip if it is on one. would try a new outlet in a different room. return the speakers if this does not work.

Inspiron 530 sound distortion

What kind of integrated sound card do you have?? I am going to assume its realtek. Go to control panel, then open up RealTek HD Sound effect manager and make sure the drop down menu for Environment is on "none". The try your speakers.
