Question about Casio Exilim EX-S600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Battery keeps going dead - second time around

I have a Casio Exilim camera. The first time I went to recharge the battery (after very little use), I put it on the recharger and it flashed a red light but would not charge. I read some online blogs and called Casio. They sent me a replacement battery for free. Well the camera didn't get a ton of use but some. Then I went to use it again and the battery once again appeared to be dead. Now when I put it on the charger there is no blinking red light. I called Casio and they want me to mail my camera back to them. Won't send me another battery (not sure why). I don't wish to mail the camera in...it's like new. Plus I hear there service is terrible and can take 7 to 8 months to get the camera back. What should I do? Is there another route to go or should I trash this barely 2 year old camera and go buy something better than Casio?

Okay, well depending on the batteries it has different amounts of time you should charge it for, the packet of the rechargeable batteries should tell you this. Check this first because you may be charging it the incorrect amount it needs.
Ask in store you brought it from if you aren't sure.

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Battery Dont Charge

jpierre's solution (in another thread) was right on the money. Touch the positive (+)end of the 9v battery to the positive (+) end of the camera battery.Leave them touching for a few seconds (10 seconds should be more thansufficient). Seems these lithium-ion batteries are subject to a'digital memory.' Subjecting it to a volt surge almost three timeshigher seems to clear it.

In short, it works like a charm.

Set date and time comes up every time i turn on camera

Try resetting your camera. In picture taking mode press menu. Go to setup, go up to reset, press right arrow, make sure reset is highlighted and press set.

Then TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD. Go back into menu, go to setup, go up to format, press right arrow and highlight format, press set. Input ur date and time again and then power off and back on. If that doesn't help then you have to send into repairs. 800-706-2534 and keep choosing option 2 and they will tell you where to send it.

Battery not charging

You need a new battery. That battery goes dead maybe its a factory defect its very rare this to happen but try to contact the Company to ask if you have a warranty for this unit. One more thing make sure that your charger is functioning.

Date/time/resolution problem w/ Ex-S500

There ccan be 2 problems that cause this. First most backup memory us powered by a button battery. They can be hidden and sometimes had to locate may require a fingernail to lift a panel. On the cano cameras its under a little door where the USB plugs into. Second could be the amout of time between use. Some may use a little cap with is like a small low voltage rechargable battery. If the camera has been sitting a few weeks its possible the little cap is draining over the time its not in use. You may have to dig out your manual to see if it says anything about a button battery. Or you may need to call casio There is a firmware update for your camera located on the casio site that fixes some problems maybe this is one of them? it wouldnt hurt to update your firmware because it fixes someimage quality issues. Remember to recharge your batterys first before you do it. Read the warnings
