Is this a fault with your home page or your browser?
In other words, what happens when you go to other addresses? Are they viewable?

You say your computer works fine, so you can see windows on your monitor, even when you open the internet browser, right? You see the title bar and the menu bar and address bar and so forth, you just can't see the web site. Or is your display blank all the time? Does the browser give you a message about not connecting or anything?
What operating system are you using, XP or Vista? What browser?
Internet Explorer? If you go to Network Connections in the control panel, does it show that you are connected to the internet?
If so, and you are using internet explorer, you can reset it to the default settings by going to your control panel from start, choosing internet options. First delete your browsing history, temporary internet files, cookies and so forth to clear the browser cache. Try opening internet explorer and see if it works. If not, go back to the internet options and choose the advanced tab and press the reset button. This will restore the browser to its default settings.
If this doesn't work there are other steps we can take to correct the situation. Do not reformat your system at this point!

Restart your machine and as soon as you turn on the machine, keep on tapping f8 and do not wait for any display fo this process, you will get advanced boot menu options on screen, select the option which says safe mode with networking, and check there is this is working fine there just open the internet options from internet explorer and then click on advanced and restore the internet explorer to default settings. and restart the machine in normal mode if it does not works in safe mode then system needs to be reformated

Make google your homepage

In Internet Explorer. Go to Tools in the upper left hand corner, then in that box click internet options at the bottom. A box will pop open.

In the top of that box will be an address. Delete it and type www.google.com then hit ok at the bottom. Do not hit apply, hit ok. Should be good to go. Open a new webpage to make sure it stuck.

As a side note, if you don't see the line on top of your screen that says file, view, favorites, tools, and help do this...right click with your mouse on the top of the page ABOVE (not in) the address bar and make sure "menu bar" is checked.

Have always had Yahoo as a homepage on a desktop pc. When clicking on a link, the article appears then screen goes blank. This has been happening for a few weeks. A message says Diagnose Connection...

Try to clear your history..everything on it,,,Remove also ll cookies and cache on TOOLS menu of your internet browser.
Go check also the the homepage and see if this was chang. Still on TOOLS menu of your internet browser select OPTION. Under MAIN tab, set "http://www.yahoo.com" as your HOMEPAGE.
Yahoo products rely its connection on INTERNET EXPLORER. It means that all connection when using any of the yahoo products will be much easier if Internet Explorer is working fine. Upgrade Internet Explorer to its latest version.
Thank you for using Fixya.
Post back if you still have questions.

I changed the settings on my homepage but want to get all of the old settings back how can i do this.

Here try this It is browsers dependent:
1.For Internet Explorer.
  • Hold Down the "Windows Key+ R" on the keyboard it will open the run box. Or click on start then Run.
  • Type in the run Box "inetcpl.cpl"
  • Now you will find internet properties type at the below in the home page box the page you want as your home page and then click on Ok.
2.For Google Chrome.

When you open Google Chrome, it shows a default homepage containing "Most Visited" page list and Bookmarks history.
If you like a blank page as homepage or want to change the homepage to some other website, then this tutorial will help you:
1. Open Chrome Options.
2. Now you have 2 options to change Homepage:
Option A:
Select "Open the following pages" option in "On startup" section and click on "Add" button.
Now type about:blank in URL box to set homepage as blank or if you want to set it some other URL, then enter the full URL or select it from "Recently visited sites" list if present.
Click on "Add" button and then "Close" the options window.
Option B:
Select "Open this page" option in "Home page" section and enter about:blank in the text box to set the homepage to blank or enter your desired website URL.
That's it. Now close the options window.
3. Now you can enjoy your desired homepage in Chrome as I have set it to a blank page:
