phantasighz, Did you swap out the monitor to get online? Or has the HP LCD mysteriously start working fine again? We need a littile more history here???? Once the LCD goes to BLACK, will it stay black, or will it all by it's self try to start up again, and then repeat the whole cycle again forever? Did you buy it new? How old is it? Have you talked to HP to see if they have swapout program? You send them your's+$40 to $90, and they send you same model refurbished(new CCFtubes/inverter/smps) installed. If you don't know by now, you are dealing with a lighting problem. Do you have any of the new energy saving curlie-Q screw-in compact-fluorescent light bulbs? Their high voltage source is derived alittle different than the way your monitor does it, and of course the Cold Cathode Fluorescent tubes are thinner and straight and hung horizontally on the opposite side of the LCD/FPD you look at. All you need to do to learn more about your problem and what hundreds of others are doing to repair their LCDs is GOOGLE search this: bad caps in lcd monitors. Hope this info helps you understand the technology better. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

Today I recieved a monitor from a friend. It is a HP vs19e, and he said it was broken. He had recently bought a new monitor, so he figured that I would like to fix it for myself.
Anyways, when I tested the monitor, it blinked from black to grey every few seconds when the Video cord was plugged in. It never shows the Bios or the usual " No signal"
My problem is not that of power like many others that have used this monitor.

I recently connected a new monitor to my pc. For some reason, even after the computer is off the monitor stays on. There are no settings that I could find related to this issue, only options pertaining to monitor power when computer is on. Ideas?
