10-32x1 Left Hand Chuck Screw for Milwaukee Magnum Holeshooter

Cat# 0232 23b, I lost my chuck screw during a wind storm last week. Tornadoe blew by just down the road and the work bench in the barn had a few things rearranged as a result. I can buy the screw from a few places milwaukee suggest, but they have about 2 weeks special order, plus cost and $10 shipping for a little screw.

Checked all my local hardware stores, even checked a local Milwaukee dealer and they were gonna charge the same.

Can anyone suggest another route or someone that can put the screw in an envelope for letter postage? Otherwise I am looking at just buying a new drill bc I can't see myself spending $11 for a .50 screw.

Any reversible drill will have the lh screw in the chuck
cruise the garage sales, dump shops etc and get a dead drill and remove the screw
could be phillips head or hex head but that will not matter
if you have access to a quality bolt retailer ( not a hardware shop) they will have the screw
go to an appliance repair shop that repairs drills as they may have a dead drill with the chuck still attached

Chuck only closes half way

could be a couple things, the chuck retainingn screw in the center might have loosened up jamming the jaws when trying to close. Open the jaws all the way and tighten the screw, it is left hand thread. Or the chuck itself is damaged and depending on how little use might be covered under their warranty. I would check the screw first.

I want to know the steps needed to replace a 1/2" keyed chuck.on a Milwaukee 0234-6 Magnum Drill

they make a service fixture for that BUT if you can find a thin wall open end wrench that will fit behind the chuck on the hex of the spindle you can still do it. What you will need to do is remove the left hand chuck retaining screw, put the wrench or similar item over the hex and then put the chuck key in a hole that is about a 30 degree so that you can strike it counter clockwise to remove. That chuck is on tight and there no easy way to remove it like you can do on cordless items.

My keyless chuck will not tightten all the way closed....seems to catch on something

Open the chuck and see if the screw inside the chuck has backed out. The screw is left hand thread so you will need to turn it to the left to tighten it. It may be an allen or Torx head screw.

How do I change the chuck on my milwaukee right angle 1/2" drill? It has snapped off behind the chuck

Take digital photos when taking the front metal gear box off the drill. Next carefully remove the two plastic halves of the drill if needed to gain access to the shaft that holds the chuck.
Replace the broken threaded metal part that the chuck screws onto.
Normally chuck replacement involves unscrewing the small screw deep inside the chuck on a metal shaft has a left hand thread. Next use a large allen wrench tightened in the chuck with a mallet to loosen the bad chuck. Reverse to install new chuck.

Chuck is stuck open cant get to free how do i replace chuck

You need to secure the drill - perhaps in a vise - and insert the chuck key (if it is a key-less chuck you may have to use a pipe wrench or something similiar) and give the key (or wrench) a sharp hit to release it. The chucks are screwed onto the drill with a right hand thread. Let me know if this works for you. Thanks

Chuck is very hard to adjust

Try lubrication, and check that the retaining screw, down inside, has not come loose. failing all of that, replace the chuck.

Need to remove the chuck on my 3/8 milwaukee drill. I opened the chuck and removed the screw in the bottom but can't get it off. does it pry off or unscrew? right or left hand screw???

if this is a cordless drill please review the tip section, if not the spindle has a hex that you can put a thin wrench on and the threads are standard meaning you would use a chuck key or allen wrench to hit it in the counter clockwise position to remove it. Let me know if you have any problems

Dewalt dc920 repair instructions chuck

To remove the chuck on your drill follow the instructions for the type of drill chuck you have:
Instructions for removing a keyed chuck
Most reversing drills have a left hand threaded screw located inside the bottom of the chuck.
1.) If the unit has this screw place the chuck key, with the chuck facing toward you, into one of the holes on the right side of the chuck. Strike the key in a clockwise direction with a wooden mallet or similar object. This will loosen the screw inside the chuck.
2.) Open chuck jaws fully. Insert screwdriver into the bottom of the chuck to engage screw head. Remove screw by turning clockwise this is a left-hand screw.
3.) With the chuck facing toward you place the key into one of the holes on the left side of the chuck. Using a wooden mallet or similar object, strike the key sharply in a counter-clockwise direction. This will loosen the chuck so that it may be unscrewed by hand.
There is no way to stop the motor from turning.
It may require several attempts to loosen the chuck
Instructions for removing a keyless chuck
Most reversing drills have a left hand threaded screw located inside the bottom of the chuck.
1.) If the unit has this screw open chuck jaws fully. Insert screwdriver into the bottom of the chuck to engage screw head. Remove screw by turning clockwise this is a left-hand screw.
2.) Insert the short end of a 1/4" or larger hex Allen wrench into the chuck and tighten. Facing the tool strike the long end of the hex wrench sharply counter clockwise as it is a standard right hand thread. This will loosen the chuck so that it may be unscrewed by hand.
There is no way to stop the motor from turning.
It may require several attempts to loosen the chuck
