SOURCE: On my Dell Inspiron Wont Boot

Hello,

This is telling you that your hard drive has failed. If it is in warranty, then contact Dell and they will fix it free of charge. If not, then get a new hard drive and reinstall windows/drivers/software with the discs that came with the laptop. Or you could take it in to a service shop and they will do it for you.

Hope this helps!

Joe

When i turn my dell on, it turns on loads and then a black screen with error code 0f00 131b msg block 875

Your hard drive needs to be replaced. You have a bad block in the boot sector. Try to boot up in safe mode (F8) if same thing happens you need to replace your hard drive and start over. If you can get it to boot up in safe mode run check disk on hard drive, that may fix it. Hopefully you have a back up somewhere? If you need help with the check disk let me know. Hope this helps,

My OS freeze's as soon as i input my password

Hi there.
Sorry but i have to inform you that your hard drive is failing, the error messages that you are getting relate to this fact and is related to the hard drive having unrecoverable bad sectors or immanent hard drive failure.
There is no way you can recover the drive!!
Your only option now would be to buy a new drive for the computer or if the machine is still under warranty take advantage of that and send it in for repair, you will no doubt have to purchase a windows installation disk too.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Can't boot windows xp

it sounds like the easiest solution would to either run the repair sequence from a windows xp disk (may not be a perminant fix) if that doesent work just use the xp disk to format the drive and install a new operating system

Laptop PC running XP Home Edition will not boot, error code 0F001A40 Msg: Block 43982261 Uncorrectable data error or media is write protected

It sounds like you have a corrupted hard drive you can try to restore to last known good configuration by pressing F8 when you boot up. If that doesn't work find your restore disk and select repair windows first. before installing new(all date will be lost) mysleuth

D610 DST Short Status Test Fail

It appears your hard disk has died and it may not be possible for you to retrieve your data.
Remove your hard drive from the laptop and insert it into an USB harddrive adapter, (they are not expensive and you can use it later as a external hard drive). Then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. The computer should/may see it as an external drive, if you are lucky you will be able to copy your data, if not, you are out of luck.
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives, but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their service.
