Try this out it seems to work for some people, if that does not work try this out:

    Switch to Windowed Mode

If you continue to have trouble playing your game in full screen mode, switch to windowed mode. Under the main menu of the game, select Options, and un-check Full Screen mode (or vica verse if you already have windowed mode on, switch to fullscreen)

Thanks and I would appreciate a reply if that got fixed or not.
    Good Luck!

I put in a BluRay movie and it shows on the menu but when I hit X to play it, the screen goes black and will not play. PS3 games are hit and miss.

It sounds like you are having a firmware problem. This is common with blue ray. You will have to go to the ps3 site and download the firmware upgrade for your system. I think you can upgrade automatiacally if your ps3 is hooked up to the internet. Go to menu settings and look for updates for firmware or divers...

Blue ray wont play movies on new tv

Are you sure the tv is 1080p capable? Usually when "mode is not supported" is displayed, it means that the tv can not handle the signal format that is being input to it. If you are using HDMI, then signal formatting is usually handled automatically. If you are using component video, you will probably have to tell the PS3 to step down the signal to either 1080i or 720p.

modded consoles, &

may not be correct for your region.
If your television has a menu choice that allows selecting screen modes, scroll through them individually while the box is selected as source and find which are compatible with the xbox's display mode.
Most common are
PAL standard def (95%+ of the world)
and NTSC standard def, North America

i think you should try other modes too like pal and others or in many tvs there is a option auto so the tv automatically select the best mode of color itself.....
