Question about Husqvarna Chain Saw 20" Bar

Coil for an '86 Husqvarna 61 Chain saw?

Husky '86 Chainsaw, Model 61, serial 6136460. Well, i've replaced the bar, chain, cylinder, piston, rings and all else was workign great. I think my coil or module has slowly died. At first, the saw would just cut out at random times, then it would die as soon as I put in on any wood but would start right back up. Now it dies as soon as it gets warm and no spark to plug til it cooled off. Today, it seems to get no spark.

My next step is to replace the ignition components.

" Is there any way I can drop down to a single ignition component which looks like may have occurred on newer model saws."

I was given this part number as a suggested replacement #544018401 but this doesn't look like it matches up.

I don't think that part # is correct unless I am going to eliminate both pieces of the ignition system or make some type of modification. the secondary ignition system or coil pack has 2 wires, 1 that attaches to the module and the spark plug wire. The bolt pattern doesn't look like it matches up to what I have. My saw has the 2 piece system and from what I can see, I believe it's (Module =Original Part #501516101 has been superceded to: Part# 501516102 ) and (Coil = Part# 501516201) from Jack's Smalll Engines.

Now if that part allows me to eliminate the 2 piece system, then by all means, please let me know. the plug wire looks a little short to make it to the plug from the current location n the flywheel. Again, I hate to replace both pieces if I have to stay with the 2 piece system due to the cost of almost $200 for both, which seems to be about the best I can find, maybe a few bucks less with shipping

you will need to replace both.. remove your muffler and see scorched(black streaks) piston, fused rings. Remove air filter and carb to see scored cylinder wall(on hot side)

I have a Husqvarna 445 chain saw and it does not get enough oil to the bar and chain. I have to stop saw after about 10 minutes of cutting because it freezes the chain so I remove bar and chain clean out...

Your Manual nor IPL mention an oiler adjustment..
445 IPL (may not be your saw)
Is this the original bar? A longer bar requires more oil and your saw is not equipped to supply it.

We are seeing many of these does not oil/oils to much problems with these no adjustment models. I recommend you contact Husqvarna, there may be an unannounced recall/repair. If they aren't willing to help you consider contacting your Atourney General and the BBB.

It has an outboard clutch, the oil pump is behind it. If you attempt a repair this will be helpful.

  1. Check the IPL for your saw to see if any special tools are needed.
  2. There are metal piston stops available, when square (almost never) with the piston top these work well, if not square they have been known to punch through the piston. I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.
  3. Everyone I’ve ever removed had a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).
    Let us know how it worked for you.

Wanted coil ignition module for Husqvarna 394xp chainsaw

I found an IPL for your saw here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter 394 as model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

I chose the 92-10. The coil and wire were manufactured as separate pieces. I found both at Jacks Small engines. It is interesting that the same ignition wire fits a Poulan at 1/2 the cost. About $86 for both pieces at Jacks. HTH

Ive just bought a husqvarna 34 husky is this the model number 34? its serial number is 016810 but i cannot find details of it anywhere an want a manual can you tell me mixture also its my first chainsaw,...

Get Chain lube for the chain oiler. Naturally, husqvarna recommends that you use "genuine husqvarna" oil for your mixture, I recommend a quality oil, doesn't have to be husky. Husqvarna recommends a 50:1 ratio, other manufacturers, of vertually all 2 cycle power equiptment use a 40:1 ratio. This mixture is slightly richer, but will not hurt your chainsaw. May produce a bit more smoke. Not sure what a 34 husky is...neither is Husqvarna, I visited the website and even tried to download a manual. Looked at every husky model, no 34.

Need true chain/bar size for my husqvarna Model 254 chainsaw

Maximum bar size of 20" but would recommend 18", if it is running sluggish, check compression, if low replace the piston, if it is 135psi or more then make sure the airfilter is clean and then tune the carb and make sure you get good revs and throttle response throughout the rev range, use the typical carb adjustments from the owners manual from the Husky web site. This is a 5hp saw and is capable of cutting some big lumps of hardwood so no excuses on the power front
