Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Paper tears when printing

HP2600N - when printing 20+ pages, random pages will tear in random spot. Most recent was 25+ pages. Maybe about the 12th page or so, the print was crooked on the page and a chunk of paper was missing from the left side, about in the middle - probably about 2-3 inches long and about an inch into the paper at it's deepest point. About 7 or 8 pages later, the bottom right corner was torn off - a piece about the size of a quarter. Doesn't appear to be any paper jams. A "professional" printer repair person looked at it, just cleaned it, and said he couldn't find any problems. Well, he only test printed a few pages.

Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

When I print a multiple page document on tear paper roll, the first page prints correctly but the pages after that start printing too near to paper tear size or up to paper tear size. What should I do

Sounds like your top margin is not either not set properly or your documents do not have page feed command at the end. Are you sure you have the correct driver installed?

When I send something to print the right hand side of the paper comes out all crumpled up, as if there is something stuck that it can not pass. I have looked in the printer but can't see anything. When...

Issue
While printing, the printer paper is torn, ripped, wrinkled, or damaged.Solution Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue.Step one: Remove all paper from the input and output trays Remove all paper from the input and output trays on the product.Step Two: Check the paper path for obstructions Press the Power ( ) button to turn off the product. Verify the input tray is empty, and then check for paper jams, bits of paper, and other obstructions, gently removing any obstructions.Lift the top door or the front cover, depending on the product, to access the print carriage, and then check for any obstructions in the paper path.Gently remove any paper or other obstructions from the paper path you might find, and then close the print carriage access door.Open the rear access door.Gently remove any paper or other obstructions from the paper path.Check the spring-loaded rear access door rollers to verify that they are clean and can be rolled.check the paper rollers inside the rear access and verify that the rollers are clean and roll upwards.Check the star wheel assembly inside the printer on the output side of the carriage. Verify that it is in good condition and clear of paper bits or other obstructions. NOTE:The star wheel assembly is located inside the printer on the output side of the carriage. The star wheel assembly is a set of small, star-shaped wheels on top and rubber rollers on the bottom. The assembly grips the printed side of the paper, and moves the paper to the output tray after printing.Replace the rear access door and verify that the rollers on the door and the rollers inside the rear access of the product are "matched up" with each other.Press the power button to turn on the product.Step Three: Check the paper type Verify that only recommended paper is being used for printing. The recommended paper types and weights for most HP printers include: Plain paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm) Legal size paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm) Card stock, up to a maximum of 110 lb (200 gsm) Envelopes, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm) Photo paper, 145 lb (236 gsm) NOTE:Supported paper weights and types vary by product. Check the Specifications sheet for your product for more information.Step Four: Make sure that the paper is loaded correctly Gather a stack of plain, white paper and load it in the product's input tray.Use only one type of paper in the stack.Use 10 to 25 sheets of paper in the stack.Fan the stack of paper to make sure that the sheets do not stick together. Tap the stack of paper against a hard, flat surface, such as a table top, to make the edges even.Insert the stack of paper into the input tray.make sure that the stack of paper is flat in the input tray. Verify the right side of the stack of paper touches the right side of the input tray and that the stack is pushed completely into the tray.Position the paper guides firmly against the sides of the paper stack without bending the paper.Step Five: Test the All-in-One Follow these steps to print a self-test page. If the page prints successfully, the product is functioning correctly.Press the Setup button on the printer.Depending on what product you have, perform one of the following:Press the arrow key to select Print Report and then press OK.Press the arrow key to select Self Test eport and press OK.A test page prints. If the test page prints without damaging the paper, you do not need to take any other action. If the test page is damaged during printing, proceed to the next step.NOTE:For printers which do not have a Setup button, check the product documentation to find out how to print a self test page.Step Six: Contact HP If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, the rear access door or the star wheel assembly is likely damaged. To replace the rear access door, contact HP. If the star wheel assembly is damaged, replace the product.Cause There are several possible causes: Bits of paper might be obstructing the paper path and need to be cleared.Unsupported paper types and sizes might catch and tear in the printer mechanism while printing.Paper pushed too far into the input tray when it is loaded, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.Paper stacks loaded into the input tray with too many or too few sheets of paper, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear.Paper stacks that are not properly stacked when loaded into the input tray, might feed into the printer incorrectly, causing the paper to tear. The rollers on the rear access door and inside the product's rear access might not be clean, in good condition or freely rolling.the star wheel assembly might be obstructed or have damaged or missing parts, causing the paper to tear. The rear access door might be damaged. The wheels on the star wheel assembly might be damaged.

We had a power failure and now our Lexmark 2391 dot matrix printer will not print from the top of the page. i need to know how to setup/reconfigure the top of the page? thank you

  1. Push the ALT button and then the PARK LOAD button to back the paper out.
  2. Push the PARK LOAD button to reload the paper. The Ready light should now be blinking.
  3. Use the MICRO up or down buttons to adjust as needed, making sure that the top of form is set on the very first page that enters the printer. Typically, the top edge of the first sheet of paper should be even with the ribbon.
  4. When the page is lined up properly, press the START/STOP button. The printer will record the current position as the top of form and then feed paper to the tear off position.
  5. Use the MICRO up and down buttons to place the top of the paper at the tear off bar.
  6. After the tear off is positioned properly, press the START/STOP button twice to save the tear off position.
  7. Test the positions with a sample print job. If the alignment is still off, follow this entire procedure from the beginning again as needed.

Our printer is flashing Tractor1 tear. We are not able to print nor can we get this to quit flashing. I have tried turning it off and back on still having the same issue. Help?

The "Tractor 1 Tear" message is not a error as such, this is an information message showing the printer is set to the front tractor feed (tractor 1) if you press the button directly under "Tear" the printer should move the paper to the tear possition.

If the pritner is not printing I would recomend checking the following;

  1. Ensure the printer is set to "ONLINE" press the button you should see ONLINE TRACTOR 1 TEAR on the display
  2. Ensure the printer is loaded with paper, press the button under "Tear" the printer should move the paper forward if it is loaded into Tractor 1.
  3. If you are not using Tractor 1, ensure you select the paper path you are using within the menu and move the paper selection lever.
  4. Observer the LCD display for any errors that may be seen when print jobs are sent.
  5. Try printing a menu print on the printer this will identify if the printer will print, the menu can be printed in the following way.
-Power the printer ON holding down the button, keep the setup button held down whilst the printer initializes.
-When the printer has finished initializing ensure the printer is OFFLINE
-Press and release the button to enter the MENU
-Press the button under "MENU" on the LCD display
-Press the button under "PRINT" on the LCD display

    The printer should print a menu settings page, if this prints OK the most likely causes for the problem are;

  1. The computer system is not sending jobs to the printer (check the correct printer is selected on the computer system)
  2. Connectivity problem (check cabling, IP Addresses etc)
  3. The wrong printer driver is being used

Press tear off paper move forward

This is a normal operation for the printer. The Tear Off scrols the print area forward so that you tear the page from the unprinted area.

Specks on print out of Mono Laser Printer HL2040

If its spots this could have been from the cartridge or the fusser unit...
Do a half print test...send a print page to your printer listen to the printer print as soon as you think the printer has printed some little bit switch off the printer...take the cartridge and view the printed portion can you see the spots..if not.....than its your fusser unit thats marking the paper....remove the half printed paper slowly.....not to tear it......remover the fusser unit(hot unit)........at the back of the printer....towards the top....on the unit it self you will see a Teflon paper ....move the gear on the far end of the fusser unit itself and view if there is any spots....try cleaning this spots slowly as not to damage the Teflon or mark the Teflon.....

Poor Print Quality

I would start by changing the paper or even leave the paper in the son for a while. Paper usually gets damp, espesially durint the evening and then using it early in the moring. If this do not work you will have to change the cartridge.

Tear off

First, if you have your manual, look it at for possible solution. Does this printer have a "load" or "top of form" function? There may be a "programmable" setting which will back the paper back down to the correct spot. The college where I'm employed used to have several Panasonic dot matrix printers, but almost all are now long gone.
