LG 37LC7D Random changing between input sources, loss of remote control. Random turning on at night.

I have already put good in-line suppression between the power & the set. I have also operated the set with the infra-red sensor blocked out, I should add that when the remote is inoperative, so are the direct TV controls.

  • gmcintosh Apr 14, 2009

I should also add this is an LCD set not a projection set.

  • gmcintosh Apr 14, 2009

What about the lock out of all the local TV controls for long periods of time?

  • gmcintosh Apr 15, 2009

First let me note this is an LCD set not Plasma.
The LG 37LC7D makes random changes between input sources. Even when the channels are not changing, there are long periods where there is a loss of any control, even with the buttons on the set. There is also random turning on at night.
I have already put good, dedicated, in-line suppression between the power & the set. I have also operated the set with the infra-red sensor blocked out.
I should repeat, that when the remote is inoperative, so are the direct TV set controls. Even when the set is not skipping between input selections, there is frequent, prolonged, lock out of all TV set buttons controls for long periods of time.

I have the handbook, what are you telling me?

  • gmcintosh Apr 15, 2009

My problems are all in the communications thread.
Referring me to the owners manual is next to useless. I have had & scoured this booklet for over a month.

I'LL FOLLOW THROUGH ON YOUR INFO & SUGGESTIONS, & LET YOU KNOW, THANKS.

One of two things are occurring with your Television. The first one may be silly, but I have seen it happen before.

1. Your next door neighbor has a remote set to the same frequency as yours, and it is causing things to happen with your TV when he/she is using their TV.

2. The only other thing this would be is an issue with the motherboard of the unit. I would have a TV Specialist take a look at it, or, if it is a recent purchase, return it for another model.

Switch between input sources can be caused by bad connection cable or by a faulty connected device. Try to rule out this connecting devices in different order and using different cables.

If you have other IR devices, as remotes etc move them to other rooms or remove batteries, to exclude this is a faulty remote.

If this is not cable problem, then random changing between input sources can be caused by a faulty IR remote receiver module on TV, the part Here is the spare: 6712000013A available for $5.

I wanted to add, if you aready excluded the IR sensor by cutting connection to controller board, then the TV firmware is bad, upgrade firmware .

Your TV either is picking up electrical noise that triggers the mode change and random turn on or the infrared receiver has a problem in the set. Do you have the TV hooked up to a surge protection device at the wall plug? if not get one, this can cause the problem as well.

WHEN I SAY A PROBLEM WITH THE INFRARED SENSOR I MEAN WITH THE SENSOR CIRCUIT IT SELF, A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC PART IN THE SENSOR CIRCUIT CAN OPEN AND CLOSE AND THROW A SIGNAL THAT CAUSES THE TV TO CHANGE MODES AND TURN ON AND OFF

I pressed the buttons on the side of the tv and now i cannot get a picture

It's probably the input. Use the input or source button to change the input to the one corresponding to your receiver (don't know? check the back of your DISH remote or try them all!) Most TVs will change the input to the old TV (ch 3, etc) when you hit the channel up or down button or if you hit input or source, so it only takes a small brush with the wrong button to ruin your night.

My TV will not respond to the remote.

Hello
Do check the infrared emission from your LG remote control. Just to to this link, where you can see details about it. If infrared emission is there, and still TV does not accept it, the infrared sensor inside your TV is faulty and should be repaced. Ok

I have an 37LC7D. It occasionally hangs on channel 41. When this happens it turns itself off but comes right back on, then off again. When this happens the remote will not do anything. To get the set going...

check your set up and make sure it is in consumer not hotel settings. The hotels use a random program channel to turn sets off. IT should be in the fist time set up menu.

LG TV no longer responds to the remote control.. Manual use of buttons on the side works fine... model 37LC2D worked fine last night... directv remote which was working will also not not have any...

I have had the exact same problem with my 47LG70 after 13 months of use. I changed my remote control sensor but it did not help. Before you do that, try something simple which seems irrelevant. On this website, others have posted success by plugging in any standing set of headphones into the remote control or headphone jack on the rear TV panel. This solved my problem. So I proceeded to thoroughly dust all of the input/output component jacks on the rear and side of the TV with an air-can. This solved my problem and I do not need to have the headphones plugged in. So try these two things before changing the sensor.

My LG 37LC7D is not working

The white/yellow/red cables is solely your DVD to TV cable connection, If you play a DVD do you get the DVD picture? It looks as if you do not have the connection from the cable going into your TV input (aerial connector). If this is connected then you have to retune your TV. this is done by the Menu-set up button on the remote.
