Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

2001 dodge grand caravan. Radio works but no sound from the speakers. The tape deck was not working but my kids stuck a tape in there anyway and it got stuck. The speakers stopped working at the same time, so I thought that if I got the tape out I would get sound again. I got the tape out but still no sound, so I bought a new/used factory radio, but still no sound. Picks up stations and says the cd is playing but just no sound. Is there a reset switch or something or maybe a different fuse for the speakers. Any help would be appreciatted.

My 2001 Caravan radio suddenly stopped producing sound also. The CD/Tape player still works and the radio lights up. I've checked and replaced fuses under the hood with no success. I took it to a car audio shop and they told me it was the amp. However, I called 3 Dodge dealers and they said there is no amp on my vehicle according to the vin #.

Had the same problem, but after I pulled the radio and then re-installed. Turned out there was a single wire that is separate from the rst of the harness that had come off the back of the radio. It attaches on one of the ground tabs. Would also explain why some aftermarket radio won't work. I don't know what that wire does and why it needs a ground on the back of the radio to make the speakers work - especially since the unit is already grounded, but the radio works again and my wife is happy whic, of cource, means everyone is happy.

Why can't I get any sound out of my radio?

A short in the wiring will result in no sound no matter how many radios and amplifiers are installed.

Trying to find out why no sound comes out of speaker in my 2006 grand caravan. Radio, CD and tape player work just fine. There is no sound??

Unscrew the suspected speaker and use a DVOM to check that values are correct or???......Check for juice at the + terminal of speaker with radio on,probably a open circuit, check your grounds....It is possible the output is completely fried;will appear that everything is okay, but no output......

Dodge radio starts then shuts off

Hi Davis,

I had the same problem with Dodge Grand Caravan as well. I have a 2001 GCV and these radios go out all the time, plus each speaker has separate amps which some speaker will stop working. You will need a new stereo, however the dealership will charge you over $350 for the same replacement. I chose to go to BestBuy and buy a new Stereo for around $100 which has iPod connections which is a plus.
Next problem!!! Since each speaker has its own amp, in order to get the new stereo to work, I had to install a relay by tapping into the passenger side kicker panel master amp power supply to bypass the chip. Best Buy guy will know what to do. I suggest install the stereo yourself with a kit and go back to install an amp bypass relay switch. Hope that helps.

Stock Stereos **** and Dodge make is difficult to go aftermarket.....Good Luck

it sounds like you got 2 problems...the cruise and radio buttons sound like a bad clockspring......the overhead console problem sounds like a bad ambient temp sensor located behind the grill. if it is too cold out the ac will not run
